What is it?

Bronchobos® 5% Syrup 250 mg/5 ml Carbocisteine Read the instructions for use carefully as they contain important information for the patient. The medication can be purchased without a doctor's prescription. Follow the instructions for use for the best treatment outcome. Keep the instructions. You may need to read them again. If you have any questions, consult your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse. The instructions include: 1. What Bronchobos 5% Syrup is and how it is used; 2. What the patient should know before taking Bronchobos 5% Syrup; 3. How to take Bronchobos 5% Syrup; 4. Possible side effects; 5. How to store Bronchobos 5% Syrup; 6. Additional information. 1. What Bronchobos 5% Syrup is and how it is used Bronchobos 5% Syrup contains carbocisteine, which belongs to the mucolytic agents. It makes mucus less sticky (thins it), which facilitates its removal during coughing. Bronchobos 5% Syrup is used for respiratory tract problems when a large amount of mucus is produced or the mucus becomes very sticky. 2. What the patient should know before taking Bronchobos 5% Syrup Inform your doctor if you are taking other medications, have certain chronic diseases, metabolic disorders, are hypersensitive, or have had allergic reactions to medications. Do not take Bronchobos 5% Syrup • if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to carbocisteine or any other ingredient of Bronchobos 5% Syrup (listed in paragraph 6). Signs of an allergic reaction include: rash, difficulty swallowing or breathing, swelling of the lips, face, throat, or tongue; • if you have a stomach or intestinal ulcer. Do not take the medication if any of the above applies to you. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking Bronchobos 5% Syrup. No special precautions are recommended when taking Bronchobos 5% Syrup. Other medicines and Bronchobos 5% Syrup The information below may apply to medicines you are no longer taking, or medicines you plan to take. Tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. The interaction of Bronchobos 5% Syrup with other medicines is unknown. Taking Bronchobos 5% Syrup with food and drink Taking food and drink does not affect the efficacy of the medication. Pregnancy and breastfeeding Consult your doctor or pharmacist before starting treatment with this medication. Consult your doctor before taking this medication: • if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or think you may be pregnant. This preparation should not be taken during the first trimester of pregnancy; • if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. Driving and operating machinery The medication does not affect the ability to drive or operate machinery. Other warnings • Bronchobos 5% Syrup contains 96% ethanol (alcohol). When used according to the instructions, 15 ml of syrup corresponds to 375 mg of alcohol. This may be harmful to patients with alcoholism. It should also be considered for pregnant and breastfeeding patients, children, and high-risk patients (with liver disease or epilepsy); • Bronchobos 5% Syrup contains methyl parahydroxybenzoate and propyl parahydroxybenzoate. Both ingredients can cause allergic reactions (delayed-type hypersensitivity reactions); • Bronchobos 5% Syrup contains azorubine (E122), which may cause an allergic reaction. 3. How to take Bronchobos 5% Syrup Take the medication according to the instructions for use. If you think the effect of the medication is too strong or too weak, consult your doctor or pharmacist. How to take Bronchobos 5% Syrup is for oral use. Take Bronchobos 5% Syrup exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure. Dosage Adults (including the elderly) • The recommended dose is 15 ml (3 dosing spoons of Bronchobos 5% Syrup) 3 times a day; • If symptoms improve, the dose can be reduced to 10 ml (2 dosing spoons of Bronchobos 5% Syrup) 3 times a day. Children Bronchobos 5% Syrup is recommended for children over 12 years of age. The dose is the same as for adults. Bronchobos 2.5% Syrup is recommended for children under 12 years of age. The usual daily dose is 20 mg/kg of body weight, taken in several doses. Note: • For dosing Bronchobos 5% Syrup, use the dosing spoon (5 ml) provided in the packaging, which has a 2.5 ml mark. One dosing spoon of Bronchobos 5% Syrup (5 ml) contains 250 mg of carbocisteine. If you take too much Bronchobos 5% Syrup Seek immediate medical attention if you take too much! If you take a large amount of Bronchobos 5% Syrup, seek immediate medical attention from your doctor or the nearest hospital emergency department. It is advisable for the patient to bring the packaging so that the doctor knows which medicine has been taken. Dyspeptic symptoms (gastro-intestinal disorders) are expected if too much Bronchobos 5% Syrup is taken. If you miss a dose of Bronchobos 5% Syrup Do not double the dose to make up for a missed dose. Continue taking it as scheduled. If you miss a dose, wait until the time for the next dose and continue taking the medication as prescribed. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. Stopping treatment with Bronchobos 5% Syrup Continue taking the medication as prescribed by your doctor. Stopping the preparation suddenly does not have any harmful effects on the body. If you have any further questions or doubts about the use of Bronchobos 5% Syrup, consult your doctor or pharmacist. 4. Possible side effects Like all medicines, Bronchobos 5% Syrup can cause side effects, but not everybody gets them. Stop taking Bronchobos 5% Syrup and seek immediate medical attention or go to the hospital: • if you have an allergic reaction. Signs may include: rash, difficulty swallowing or breathing, swelling of the lips, face, throat, or tongue; • if you develop blisters or bleeding on your skin, including on your lips, eyes, mouth, nose, or genitals. You may also have flu-like symptoms and a fever. This could be Stevens-Johnson syndrome. Inform your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following serious side effects: • vomiting blood or black, tarry stools If any side effect becomes serious, or if you notice any side effects not listed in these instructions, please tell your doctor or pharmacist. 5. How to store Bronchobos 5% Syrup Keep Bronchobos 5% Syrup out of the reach of children. Store below 30°C. Do not freeze. Shelf life: 36 months Shelf life after opening the original packaging: 60 days Do not take Bronchobos 5% Syrup after the expiry date indicated on the box. 6. Additional information What Bronchobos 5% Syrup contains 5 ml of Bronchobos 5% Syrup contains: Carbocisteine.............250.00 mg Other excipients of Bronchobos 5% Syrup are: Glycerol 85%, Ethanol 96%, Sodium hydroxide, Sodium carmellose, Citric acid monohydrate, Methyl parahydroxybenzoate, Sodium saccharin, Propyl parahydroxybenzoate, Raspberry flavour, Azorubine (E122), Purified water. Form and packaging of Bronchobos 5% Syrup Bronchobos 5% Syrup is a clear, slightly viscous solution with a raspberry colour and aroma. Bronchobos 5% Syrup is contained in a bottle holding 200 ml of syrup. The packaging includes a dosing spoon for correct administration of the medication.
