Fluifort® Syrup (Carbocisteine Lysine Salt 9%) Read this leaflet carefully before you start taking this medicine: - Keep this leaflet. You may need to read it again. - If you have any further questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist. - This medicine has been prescribed for you. Do not pass it on to others. It may harm them, even if their symptoms are the same as yours. - If any of the side effects become serious, or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist immediately. What Fluifort Syrup is and what it is used for Fluifort Syrup contains S-methyl carbocisteine lysine salt as the active ingredient, which is a muco-regulator with mucolytic and expectorant effects. Fluifort is effective in conditions accompanied by the formation of viscous, difficult-to-expectorate sputum, in acute and chronic diseases of the upper and lower respiratory tract, and is also used to treat a number of diseases of the middle ear, throat, and nose. Before taking Fluifort Syrup Do not take Fluifort Syrup if: - You are allergic or intolerant to the active substance or any of the ingredients in Fluifort Syrup, - You have a stomach or duodenal ulcer - You are pregnant or breastfeeding. - The product should not be given to children under 2 years of age. Special precautions are needed when taking Fluifort Syrup: - If your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to some sugars, consult your doctor before starting. - If you have diabetes and are on a low-calorie diet, you should consider the sucrose content in the syrup. The product contains methyl-para-hydroxybenzoate, which may cause urticaria. Para-hydroxybenzoates may also cause delayed reactions such as contact dermatitis, and in rare cases, urticaria and bronchospasm. - This product is contraindicated in children under 2 years of age: In children under 2 years of age, mucolytics can cause bronchial obstruction. This is due to the fact that, due to the physiological characteristics of the respiratory tract, the ability to drain bronchial mucus is limited in this age group. Therefore, children under 2 years of age should not take mucolytic agents. If you are taking other medicines No interactions have been observed with the most commonly used medicines for the treatment of upper and lower respiratory tract diseases. However, please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are currently taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including those obtained without a prescription. Taking Fluifort Syrup with food or liquids There are no specific recommendations regarding taking Fluifort alone, or with food or liquids. Pregnancy and breastfeeding Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine. Fluifort Syrup cannot be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Driving and operating machinery You can drive and operate machinery while taking Fluifort Syrup. 3. How to take Fluifort Syrup Always follow your doctor's recommendations for taking Fluifort Syrup exactly. Always consult your doctor or pharmacist for clarification if you are unsure about the dosage. The usual recommended doses are: Adults: 30 ml once a day or 15 ml twice a day. Children: - Fluifort is contraindicated in newborns and infants. - 2 to 5 years: 2.5 ml twice a day. - 5 years and older: 5 ml twice a day. Patients with impaired liver and kidney function: Usual recommended doses can be used. Duration of treatment: Fluifort can be used for a long period, however, in such cases, please follow your doctor's recommendations. If you have taken more Fluifort Syrup than you should Contact your doctor or pharmacist and follow their instructions. In case of overdose, accompanied by enhanced symptoms of side effects, gastric lavage followed by treatment under medical supervision may be beneficial. There is no specific antidote for this medicinal product. If you forget to take Fluifort Syrup If you forget to take a dose and your next dose is approaching, take only one dose and continue with the subsequent doses according to the instructions in the leaflet. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. If you have missed several doses, contact your doctor. They may recommend a new course of Fluifort Syrup. If you stop taking Fluifort Syrup Stopping Fluifort Syrup on your own is not recommended. If you have any questions about the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist. 4. Possible side effects Like all medicines, Fluifort Syrup can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them. The following side effects have been rarely reported with the use of Fluifort: Skin disorders: skin rash, urticaria, erythema, exanthema, eczematous/erythematous bullous eruptions, itching, angioneurotic edema, dermatitis. Digestive system: abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. Central nervous system: dizziness. Cardiovascular system: flushing of the skin. Respiratory system: shortness of breath. One case of decreased taste sensitivity and olfactory illusion type olfactory change was observed in a patient who took higher than recommended doses. If any side effect you experience is serious, or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist. 5. How to store Fluifort Syrup Store in a dry place at a temperature below 25°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not take Fluifort Syrup after the expiry date indicated on the label and cardboard packaging. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. Medicinal products should not be disposed of down the drain or with household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines you no longer need. These measures are to protect the environment. 6. Further information What Fluifort Syrup contains - The active substance is carbocisteine lysine salt monohydrate - Other (excipient) ingredients are: natural cherry flavor, methylparaben (methyl p-hydroxybenzoate), caramel, sucrose, and purified water. What Fluifort Syrup looks like and contents of the packaging Fluifort is a clear, shiny, yellowish-brown liquid. The syrup is packaged in 40 ml or 120 ml bottles, the bottles are packed in cardboard boxes, together with the instructions for use and a plastic measuring spoon (for 40 ml) or a plastic measuring cup (for 120 ml). Dispensing regime: Pharmaceutical product group - III, available without a prescription
