What is it?
Composition: Active ingredient: Dexamethasone phosphate. Indication: As replacement therapy in insufficiency of natural corticosteroid secretion (in patients with adrenal insufficiency, as well as congenital adrenal diseases - hyperplasia); for various diseases: e.g., cerebral edema, autoimmune, rheumatic, skin and respiratory diseases, for treatment of severe infections in combination with antibiotics, endocrine diseases, and for treatment of some types of tumors (as well as anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-allergic, immunosuppressive effects), and inflammatory eye reactions. In patients with inflammatory rheumatic diseases (especially rheumatoid arthritis), Dexamethasone Krka is used as symptomatic treatment until the effect of the main therapeutic agent manifests or when it is insufficient. Contraindication: Allergy; acute viral, bacterial or systemic fungal infection that is not adequately treated; if excessive use of corticosteroids is the cause of Cushing's syndrome; if the patient has recently been vaccinated with a live vaccine; lactation; significant reduction in blood clotting - not for intramuscular use. Pregnancy and lactation: Before using any medication, consult your doctor. Dosage and administration: Adults and elderly: The product is administered intravenously, intramuscularly, intra-articularly, periarticularly and into other tissues. The recommended average initial dose for intravenous and intramuscular administration is 0.5-9 mg (higher doses may be used if necessary). The recommended dose for intra-articular administration is 0.4-4 mg (depending on the size of the affected joint). The dose of Dexamethasone for skin diseases is identical to the dose for joint treatment. The recommended injectable dose of Dexamethasone into tissues and around joints is 2-6 mg. The product is prescribed according to the disease, expected duration of treatment, tolerance and effectiveness, therefore the exact dose, frequency and duration will be determined by the doctor.
