What is it?
ERYTHROMYCIN – TABLETS COMPOSITION Each tablet contains: 250 mg or 500 mg Erythromycin PHARMACOTHERAPEUTIC GROUP Antibiotics of the macrolide group INDICATIONS Erythromycin is used for the treatment and prophylaxis of infections caused by susceptible microorganisms: Upper respiratory tract infections Tonsillitis, peritonsillar abscess, pharyngitis, laryngitis, sinusitis, angina, flu-related infections, colds Lower respiratory tract infections Tracheitis, acute and chronic bronchitis, pneumonia (lobar, bronchopneumonia, primary atypical), bronchiectasis, Legionnaires' disease Ear infections Otitis media, otitis externa, mastoiditis Eye infections Blepharitis Oral and dental infections Gingivitis, Vincent's angina Skin and soft tissue infections Abscesses, paronychia, pustular acne, impetigo, cellulitis, erysipelas, carbuncles, anthrax Gastrointestinal infections Cholecystitis, staphylococcal enterocolitis Prophylaxis Pre- and postoperative trauma, rheumatic fever Other infections Osteomyelitis, urethritis, gonorrhea, syphilis, lymphogranuloma venereum, diphtheria, prostatitis, whooping cough DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION Adults and children over 8 years of age: Mild to moderate infections: 2 g per day, divided doses Severe infections: up to 4 g per day, divided doses Children: Children aged 2–8 years, mild to moderate severity: 1 g per day, divided doses Infants and newborns: 500 mg per day, divided doses; in case of severe infections, the dose can be doubled CONTRAINDICATIONS Hypersensitivity to erythromycin Erythromycin is contraindicated in patients taking: simvastatin, tolterodine, mizolastine, amisulpride, astemizole, terfenadine, domperidone, cisapride or pimozide Erythromycin should not be taken with ergotamine and dihydroergotamine PREGNANCY AND LACTATION Administer with caution in pregnant and breastfeeding women STORAGE CONDITIONS In a cool, protected from sunlight place, ≤30 °C Keep out of reach of children DISPENSING CONDITIONS Prescription only
