What is it?
Composition: The active substance is etoricoxib. Each film-coated tablet contains 120mg of etoricoxib; excipients are: tablet core: croscarmellose sodium (E468), microcrystalline cellulose (E460) and magnesium stearate (E470b); tablet coating: hypromellose (E464), titanium dioxide (E171), triacetin (E1518), talc (E553b), indigo carmine (E132) and iron yellow oxide (E172). Indications: Etoricoxib reduces joint and muscle pain and swelling (inflammation) in patients aged 16 years and over with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and gout; Etoricoxib is also used for short-term treatment after dental surgery for moderate pain in patients aged 16 years and over. Osteoarthritis is a joint disease. It causes gradual breakdown of the cartilage that cushions the ends of bones, leading to swelling (inflammation), pain, stiffness, and limited movement. Rheumatoid arthritis is a long-term inflammatory disease of the joints, causing pain, stiffness, swelling, and gradual loss of movement in the affected joints. It can also cause inflammation in various parts of the body. Gout is a disease that causes sudden, recurrent attacks of joint inflammation, accompanied by severe pain and redness. Ankylosing spondylitis is an inflammatory disease of the spine and large joints. Contraindications: if the patient is allergic to etoricoxib or any of the other ingredients in the preparation; if the patient is allergic to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, including aspirin and COX-2 inhibitors; if the patient has a recurrent stomach or duodenal ulcer or bleeding; if the patient has severe liver disease; severe kidney disease; if the patient is or may be pregnant or breastfeeding; if the patient is under 16 years of age; if the patient has inflammatory bowel disease, such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis or colitis; if the patient has high blood pressure that is not controlled by treatment (consult your doctor or nurse to check if your blood pressure is adequately controlled); if the patient has been diagnosed with heart disease, including heart failure (moderate or severe), angina (chest pain); if the patient has had a heart attack, coronary artery bypass surgery, has peripheral arterial disease (poor circulation in the legs due to narrowing or blockage of arteries); if the patient has had any type of stroke (including hemorrhagic or transient ischemic stroke); etoricoxib may slightly increase the risk of heart attack or stroke, so its use is not recommended in cases of heart problems or a history of stroke. Consult your doctor before taking the medication if you think you have any of the above. Children and adolescents: The medication is not used in children and adolescents under 16 years of age. Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility: Etoricoxib must not be taken during pregnancy, when planning pregnancy or when trying to conceive. If you become pregnant, stop taking the tablets and consult your doctor. For more information, or if you are unsure, consult your doctor. Breastfeeding: It is not known whether etoricoxib passes into breast milk. Before taking etoricoxib, inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed. Breastfeeding is not permitted during treatment with this medication. Fertility: Etoricoxib is not recommended for women who are planning to become pregnant. Dosage and administration: Always take the medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
