What is it?
Composition: Glycerin Suppositories 1375mg for Children: One pediatric suppository contains active ingredient: Glycerin 1375mg; Excipients: Sodium stearate, Sodium bicarbonate. Indication: Short-term treatment of occasional constipation. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to one or more active ingredients, abdominal pain of unknown origin and acute, vomiting and dizziness, intestinal obstruction or stenosis, rectal bleeding of unknown origin, acute hemorrhagic pain and bleeding; acute dehydration. Precautions for use: Should be used rarely during diarrhea, preferably not more than seven days. Prolonged use requires a doctor's prescription, which should be adequately considered on an individual basis. For the treatment of chronic or recurrent constipation, a physician's diagnosis should always be sought for medical treatment and monitoring. Excessive use of laxatives can lead to persistent diarrhea, with consequent loss of water, mineral salts (especially potassium), and other essential nutrients. The most serious cases are considered the onset of dehydration or hypokalemia, and can also cause heart problems or muscle diseases, especially in cases of concomitant treatment with cardiac glycosides, diuretics, or corticosteroids. Laxatives, especially contact laxatives (stimulant laxatives), can cause dependence (and therefore a possible increase in dosage), chronic constipation, and loss of normal intestinal function (intestinal atony). In case of constipation, the patient should first correct dietary habits, follow a daily diet, avoid difficult-to-digest food, and eat soup. When using laxatives, at least 6-8 glasses of water and other fluids should be consumed daily. Pregnancy and lactation: Consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking the preparation. During pregnancy and lactation, it is advisable to take the medication only if necessary and under medical supervision. Dosage, method of administration, and duration of use: It is preferable to use a low dose. For children aged 2 to 11 years: 1 suppository for children, maximum 1 or 2 times a day. Method of administration: Remove the suppository from its container and then, if necessary, insert it rectally. If the suppository is softened, it should be cooled with cold water before opening the container. For children under twelve years of age, the preparation may be used only on medical advice. The use of laxatives is not recommended for more than seven days (see Precautions). A diet with soup-based food aids the action of the medication. Storage: Store out of reach of children, away from moisture and heat sources.
