It has been studied that natural, unheated honey possesses a broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. The belief that honey is food, medicine, and ointment has come down to our time, and thus, the branch of alternative medicine called apitherapy has developed in recent years, offering treatment methods based on honey and other bee products for many diseases, including bacterial infections. Propolis is a natural product produced by domestic bees. It has been used in folk medicine for millennia. Its extract contains amino acids, phenolic acids, phenolic acid esters, flavonoids, cinnamic acid, terpenes, and caffeic acid. It has several types of biological activity, such as anti-inflammatory, immunostimulating, antiviral, and antibacterial effects. Galangin belongs to the flavonol class of flavonoids, which honey and propolis contain in significant amounts. Galangin exhibits various pharmacological effects, such as anti-mutagenic, anti-clastogenic, anti-oxidative, free radical scavenging, metabolic enzyme regulating, and anti-cancer effects. It can reduce the genotoxicity of chemical substances. Grapefruit (Citrus paradisi) is a subtropical citrus tree known for its sour, semi-sweet, bitter-tasting fruit. Grapefruit seeds contain several phenolic components, which give them antioxidant properties. Sage is a perennial plant (semi-shrub) that grows in the Mediterranean region. Sage is well known for its carminative, antispasmodic, and antiseptic properties. Traditionally, sage is used for bloating, dyspepsia, pharyngitis, stomatitis, gingivitis, glossitis (internally or as a mouthwash). Gongola is an annual plant of Eurasian origin. Gongola is considered an expectorant and diuretic. The plant's juice is used mixed with honey. It is traditionally used to treat respiratory tract diseases such as laryngitis, pharyngitis, cough and hoarseness, as well as voice loss, chronic bronchitis, and asthma. Eucalyptus is native to Australia. In traditional medicine, it is used as a symptomatic treatment for catarrh and cough. Eucalyptus essential oil inhibits the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus subtilis, Enterococcus faecalis, and Escherichia coli in vitro. Peppermint is a perennial herb. Peppermint is used to treat symptoms of catarrh and cough. Vitamin B6 plays an important role in the metabolism of fats and amino acids. It participates in the synthesis of neurotransmitters and is activated in the presence of magnesium; it is important for hemoglobin synthesis; it participates in the synthesis of hormones such as adrenaline and insulin; it ensures the sodium/potassium salt balance in the body.
