What is it?
Composition and dosage form Coated tablets. 1.5 mg. 30 pcs. Active component: Indapamide 1.5 mg Active ingredients: Tablet core: Colloidal silicon dioxide, hypromellose, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, povidone. Film coating: Glycerin, hypromellose, macrogol 6000, magnesium stearate, titanium dioxide. Pharmacological properties This medicinal product is intended for elevated arterial pressure (arterial hypertension). It is presented in the form of prolonged-release film-coated tablets, the active substance of which is indapamide. Indapamide is a diuretic. Most diuretics increase the volume of urine produced by the kidneys. However, indapamide differs from other diuretics in that it only slightly increases the volume of urine produced by the kidneys. Indications Elevated arterial pressure Dosage and administration 1 tablet per day, preferably in the morning. The preparation can be taken independently of food intake. The tablet should be swallowed whole with 1 glass of water. The tablet cannot be crushed or broken. Treatment with arterial hypertension medications usually lasts a lifetime. Side effects Like any preparation, Arifon Retard can cause side effects (though not in all patients). These include: - Common (less than 1 in 10 patients, but more than 1 in 100): Reduced potassium levels in the blood, which can cause muscle weakness. - Uncommon (less than 1 in 100 patients, but more than 1 in 1000): Vomiting, allergic reactions, mainly dermatological in nature, such as rash, purpura (red spots on the skin), in patients predisposed to allergic and asthmatic reactions. - Rare (less than 1 in 1000 patients, but more than 1 in 10,000): - Feeling of fatigue, dizziness, headache, tingling sensation in the body (paresthesia), - Digestive system disorders (such as nausea and constipation), dry mouth, - Increased risk of dehydration in elderly patients, as well as in patients with heart failure. - Very rare (less than 1 in 10,000): - Irregular heart rhythm, low blood pressure, - Kidney diseases, - Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas, causing pain in the upper abdomen), liver dysfunction. In case of liver dysfunction, hepatic encephalopathy (degenerative brain disease) may develop, - Changes in blood count, such as thrombocytopenia (reduced platelet count, leading to easy bruising and nosebleeds), leukopenia (reduced white blood cell count, leading to unexplained fever, sore throat, or other flu-like symptoms – in this case, consult your doctor) and anemia (reduced red blood cell count), - Angioedema or/and urticaria, severe skin reactions. Angioedema is characterized by swelling of the extremities, skin of the face, lips, tongue, throat, or mucous membranes of the respiratory tract, causing shortness of breath and difficulty swallowing. In this case, consult a doctor. In case of systemic lupus erythematosus (a type of collagen-vascular disease), the condition may worsen. There is data on photosensitivity (skin changes) after exposure to sun or artificial ultraviolet rays. Contraindications - Allergy to indapamide, any other sulfonamide, and any component of Arifon Retard. - Serious kidney disease. - Severe liver disease, hepatic encephalopathy (degenerative brain disease). - Low potassium levels in the blood.
