What is it?

Meni-Drops® 0.25mg/ml Eye Drops Solution - Ketotifen Hydrogen Fumarate What is Meni-Drops® and what is it used for Meni-Drops® contains an active anti-allergic substance. Indications: Symptomatic treatment of seasonal allergic conjunctivitis. What you need to know before using Meni-Drops® Do not use Meni-Drops® if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to ketotifen or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. Warnings and precautions: General Meni-Drops® eye drops contain benzalkonium chloride as a preservative, which can be deposited on soft contact lenses. Therefore, Meni-Drops® eye drops should not be instilled if the patient is wearing lenses. The patient should remove the lenses before instilling the drops and reinsert them only after 15 minutes. All eye drops containing benzalkonium chloride as a preservative can cause discoloration of soft contact lenses. Other medicines and Meni-Drops® If you need to use other medicines together with Meni-Drops®, the interval between the use of each product should be at least 5 minutes. It is possible that Meni-Drops® eye drops may enhance the effect of antihistamines and interact with some central nervous system depressants. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are currently taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines. Taking Meni-Drops® with food, drink and alcohol: It is possible that Meni-Drops® eye drops may enhance the effect of alcohol. Pregnancy and breastfeeding If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using Meni-Drops®. There is no adequate data on the use of ketotifen eye drops in pregnant women. Caution is advised when prescribing the medicine to pregnant women. Although ketotifen passes into breast milk, the use of Meni-Drops® eye drops may not affect the baby at therapeutic doses. Driving and operating machinery Meni-Drops® may cause blurred vision or drowsiness. If these conditions develop, do not drive or operate machinery until these symptoms have passed. Meni-Drops® contains benzalkonium chloride, which can affect soft contact lenses. Contact lenses should be removed before instilling Meni-Drops® eye drops and can be reinserted 15 minutes later. Benzalkonium chloride is known to cause discoloration of soft contact lenses. How to take this medicine Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are unsure, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Recommended dose For adults, the elderly and children (over 3 years of age) is: One drop of Meni-Drops® into the conjunctival sac twice a day. To avoid contamination, do not touch the tip of the dropper container to any surface. If you have used more Meni-Drops® than you should have There are no known cases of overdose. Swallowing the contents of a 5 ml bottle corresponds to taking 1.25 mg of ketotifen, which is 60% of the recommended daily oral dose for a 3-year-old child. Clinical data have not shown severe signs or symptoms after taking up to 20 mg of ketotifen. If you forget to use Meni-Drops® If you forget to use Meni-Drops®, instill the drops as soon as you remember, and then continue to use them according to the prescribed regimen. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. Possible side effects Like all medicines, Meni-Drops® can cause side effects, but not everybody gets them. When using Meni-Drops® eye drops, you may notice the following reactions in the eye area: burning or punctate superficial lesions on the surface of the cornea. The following reactions occur rarely/infrequently: transient blurred vision after instillation, dry eyes, eyelid damage, inflammation of the eye surface, eye pain, pain when looking at bright light. Rare reactions that may affect the body: headache, drowsiness, skin rash, eczema, hives, dry mouth, and allergic reaction. Consult your doctor if you experience any side effects, including any side effects not listed in this leaflet. How to store Keep the medicine out of the reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the carton and bottle next to EXP. The expiry date is the last day of the specified month. Store below 25°C. Any remaining product should be discarded after 4 weeks of opening. Appearance and contents of the package The active substance is ketotifen hydrogen fumarate, equivalent to ketotifen. Each milliliter contains 0.345 mg of ketotifen fumarate dihydrate, equivalent to 0.25 mg of ketotifen. Each drop contains 8.5 micrograms of ketotifen fumarate dihydrate.
