What is it?
International Nonproprietary Name - Macrogol, Silicon dioxide, Sod.SaccharinMacrolax 3350 - Powder for oral suspension, is an osmotic laxative for effective bowel cleansing before diagnostic procedures and surgical interventions. 1 sachet (60g) contains: Macrogol 3350, Silicon dioxide, Sodium saccharin, Orange flavoring. Mechanism of action: Macrogol 3350 retains a large amount of water in the lumen of the large intestine, leading to softening and liquefaction of the contents, stimulation of natural peristalsis, and effective bowel cleansing. Macrolax does not irritate the intestinal mucosa, is not absorbed, and is excreted unchanged. Indications: Bowel evacuation before endoscopic and radiological examinations During certain surgical operations requiring bowel cleansing Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to the components If the patient's age is less than 2 years, weight <20kg Intestinal stenosis and occlusion Intestinal dynamic obstruction Acute and complicated colitis Bowel perforation Ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease There is no data on the safety of Macrolax use during pregnancy and lactation, so a doctor's recommendation is necessary. Interaction with other medications: Other oral preparations should be discontinued at least 2 hours before taking Macrolax, as it reduces their absorption and may be excreted unchanged. If the patient is taking anticoagulants, antiplatelets, or diabetes medications, it is necessary to consult a doctor for dose adjustments. Side effects: Before defecation, noise and discomfort in the abdominal area, and nausea may occur. If these symptoms become intense, it is necessary to slow down the intake of the preparation. Rarely, hypersensitivity and allergic skin reactions may occur. Preparation and administration: A controlled diet should be followed before taking the preparation. 2 sachets are dissolved in 1 L of water and stirred until a homogeneous solution is obtained. The prepared solution should be taken over 1-2 hours with 15-20 minute intervals. An additional 0.5 L of water should be consumed, for a total of 1.5 L of fluid. 1 hour later, the same procedure is repeated with the remaining 2 packets. A total of 3 L of solution is consumed - 2 L of Macrolax solution and 1 L of water. After taking the first liter, bowel peristalsis begins to intensify and the evacuation of contents is stimulated. The fecal mass will gradually become transparent, without fecal matter. When the excreted fluid becomes completely transparent, the bowel is ready for diagnostic procedures. The prepared Macrolax solution should be stored in the refrigerator. It should be used within 24 hours. Precautions: The preparation should be stored in a dry, cool place, inaccessible to children, at a temperature of 25°C. Valid until the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
