What is it?
Avelox Tablet 400mg Composition: Each film-coated tablet contains 400mg moxifloxacin (as hydrochloride) Contains 68mg lactose monohydrate per tablet. Indications: Indicated for the treatment of the following bacterial infections caused by susceptible strains: Respiratory tract infections Exacerbation of chronic bronchitis Community-acquired pneumonia, including cases caused by multi-drug resistant strains. Acute sinusitis Uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections Uncomplicated pelvic inflammatory disease (e.g., infections of the upper genital tract in women, including salpingitis and endometritis). Complicated skin and skin structure infections (including diabetic foot infections) Complicated intra-abdominal infections, including polymicrobial infections such as abscess. Dosage: The recommended dose of Avelox is 400mg once daily. The film-coated tablet should be swallowed whole with a sufficient amount of liquid, independently of food intake. The duration of treatment should be determined by the severity or clinical response. There are further general recommendations for upper and lower respiratory tract infections: Bronchitis: Exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, 5 days Pneumonia: Community-acquired pneumonia, 10 days Sinusitis: Acute sinusitis, 7 days Uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections: 7 days Uncomplicated pelvic inflammatory disease: 14 days Complicated skin and skin structure infections Total duration of treatment for subsequent treatment (after intravenous oral therapy): 7-21 days Complicated intra-abdominal infections Total duration of treatment for subsequent therapy (intravenous and oral therapy): 5-14 days Storage: Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C.
