What is it?

Papaverine Hydrochloride 2% Solution for Injection Papaverine hydrochloride 2% pro injectionibus Generic Name: Papaverine hydrochloride Pharmacotherapeutic group: Myotropic, antispasmodic agent ATC code: BA03AD01 Form: Solution for injection in ampoules Composition: Each ml of the preparation contains 20mg of Papaverine hydrochloride. Excipients: EDTA, methionine, water for injection. Pharmacological properties: Pharmacodynamics: The preparation causes relaxation of smooth muscles. It dilates blood vessels (especially spastic ones), lowers blood pressure, and reduces spasms of the musculature of internal organs. Pharmacokinetics: Metabolized in the liver. Excreted by the kidneys mainly in the form of glucuronic acid phenolic compounds, with a small amount unchanged. The half-life is 1-3 hours. Indications: Functional disorders and pain caused by spasms of the smooth muscles of blood vessels, abdominal cavity, and bronchi. Used for spasms of cerebral and coronary blood vessels and in hypertensive crises; also for spastic colitis, cholecystitis, spasms of the urinary tract, and renal colic. Method of administration and dosage: Subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous injections. Intravenous injections should be administered slowly under medical supervision! Single dose 0.04g (2ml of 2% solution). Maximum single dose for adults is 0.1g, daily dose is 0.3g. For children, depending on age, 0.005-0.06g twice a day. Contraindications: Hypotension, atrioventricular block, age under 1 year or elderly, glaucoma, individual hypersensitivity to the preparation. Side effects: Atrioventricular block, ventricular extrasystole, hypotension, elevated transaminase levels in blood, drowsiness, sweating. Pregnancy and lactation: Safety and efficacy have not been established. Interaction with other drugs: Combination with cardiac glycosides causes a marked enhancement of myocardial contractility. Precautions and special instructions: The preparation should be prescribed in small doses and with caution to the elderly, patients with liver and kidney failure, head trauma, severe vascular hypotension, and those with impaired conduction in the heart vessels. Working with potentially hazardous machinery and driving a car requires special caution. Overdose: Intravenous administration of high doses of the preparation may cause arrhythmias or atrioventricular blocks. Treatment is symptomatic. Storage conditions: Protect from light, at a temperature not exceeding +250C. Shelf life: 2 years. Release form: 2ml preparation in an ampoule. 10 ampoules with instructions for use, in a cardboard box with polygraphic design. Dispensing rule: Pharmaceutical product Group III, dispensed without a prescription.
