What is it?
International Nonproprietary Name - xylometazoline Clinical-pharmacological group: Otorhinolaryngology → Vasoconstrictors for topical use Composition 1 dose (90 μl) of spray contains: Active substance: xylometazoline hydrochloride - 45 μg or 90 μg; Excipients: sea water, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, purified water. Pharmacotherapeutic group Anticongestive agent – alpha-adrenomimetic. Indications for use Acute respiratory diseases with symptoms of rhinitis (runny nose), acute allergic rhinitis, pollinosis, sinusitis, eustachitis, otitis media (as part of combination therapy to reduce swelling of the nasopharyngeal mucosa). Preparation of the patient for diagnostic manipulations in the nasal passages. Contraindications Hypersensitivity to xylometazoline or any other component of the preparation; arterial hypertension, tachycardia, pronounced atherosclerosis; increased intraocular pressure, especially angle-closure glaucoma; atrophic rhinitis, hyperthyroidism, surgical intervention on the meninges (in history), inflammatory diseases of the skin or mucous membrane of the nasal vestibule, conditions after transsphenoidal hypophysectomy, pregnancy, children under 6 years of age (90 μg/dose nasal metered spray), children under 2 years of age (45 μg/dose nasal metered spray). Do not use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO) (including up to 14 days after their withdrawal), tricyclic and tetracyclic antidepressants, other vasoconstrictive topical agents (decongestants). Method of administration and dosage Intranasally. Nasal metered spray 45 μg/dose In children aged 2 to 6 years, 1 spray in each nostril 1-3 times a day. In adults and children over 6 years of age, 1-2 sprays in each nostril 2-3 times a day. It should not be used more than 3 times a day. Nasal metered spray 90 μg/dose In adults and children over 6 years of age, 1 spray in each nostril 2-3 times a day. It should not be used more than 3 times a day. In children, the use of the preparation should be under adult supervision. The last spray is recommended to be administered just before bedtime. Before use, the nostrils should be cleared. The protective cap must be removed. Before first use, press the pump mechanism several times until an even "mist" cloud appears. The spray bottle is ready for use. During use, insert the spray nozzle into the nasal cavity and press the pump mechanism once. The bottle should be held vertically. Do not spray horizontally or downwards. It is recommended to inhale lightly through the nose just before spraying. After use, cover the bottle with the protective cap. Each bottle is for individual use. After completion of therapy, re-administration of the preparation is possible only after a few days. It is not recommended to use the medicinal product for more than 5-7 days. For the duration of use in children, consult a doctor. If the condition does not improve after treatment, or symptoms worsen, or new symptoms appear, consult a doctor. Use the preparation only according to the indications, method of administration and dosages specified in the instructions.
