What is it?
Composition: Rosuvastatin Indications: Hypercholesterolemia. Rosuvastatin is used to reduce elevated concentrations of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, B-apolipoprotein, and triglycerides when other methods do not yield the desired results: hypercholesterolemia; combined hypercholesterolemia (mixed); homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia; prevention of cardiovascular diseases. Dosage and Administration: 1 tablet once daily. The maximum daily dose of Rosuvastatin is 40 mg. This dose is intended only for patients with high cholesterol levels and patients at high risk of heart attack and angina whose cholesterol levels have not been adequately reduced with 20 mg tablets. Regular cholesterol monitoring is recommended. In case of a missed dose: If a dose is missed, the next dose should be taken at the usual time. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed dose. Consult a doctor before discontinuing Rosuvastatin. Discontinuation of the drug may lead to an increase in cholesterol levels. Side Effects: Like all medicines, Rosuvastatin can cause side effects. Usually, these side effects are transient and mild. In case of allergic reactions listed below, discontinue the drug immediately: difficulty breathing, with or without swelling of the face, tongue, lips, or throat; swelling of the face, tongue, lips, or throat, which may cause difficulty swallowing; severe itching of the skin. Also, discontinue Rosuvastatin immediately if you experience unusual muscle pain that persists for a long time. Like other statins, a small number of people experience adverse effects on muscles, and rarely it can cause serious muscle damage, known as rhabdomyolysis. Additionally, the following side effects may occur: headache, stomach pain, constipation, vomiting, muscle pain, dizziness. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to Rosuvastatin or any of its components; pregnancy and lactation; acute liver or kidney failure; recurrent or unusual muscle pain; patients over 70 years of age; acute respiratory failure; in some people, statins can affect the liver. This is determined by a simple test that measures elevated liver enzyme levels in the blood. For this purpose, the doctor always performs this blood test before and during treatment with Vasurotin. Interactions with other drugs: Inform your doctor about all medications you are taking or have taken, including over-the-counter medications. Especially when using cyclosporine, warfarin, fibrates, or any other cholesterol-lowering drug, antacids, erythromycin, oral contraceptives, liponavir, ritonavir, or if you are undergoing hormone replacement therapy. Pregnancy and Lactation: Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medication. Rosuvastatin should not be used during pregnancy and lactation. It is recommended to use oral contraceptives while taking Rosuvastatin to prevent pregnancy. Overdose: In case of overdose, seek medical attention or go to the nearest hospital.
