What is it?
Name - Senna Leaf Composition: Senna leaves contain anthraglycosides, flavonoids, resinous substances, and other biologically active substances. Pharmacological group: Herbal laxative. Pharmacological action: Senna leaf decoction has a laxative effect, with the effect appearing 8-12 hours after administration. Medical use: Used as an adjunct in chronic constipation, for the treatment of spastic colitis. Method of preparation: Pour 200ml (1 teacup) of boiling water over 1 tablespoon of raw material and boil in a water bath for 15 minutes. Then cool, filter, and squeeze the remaining mass. Add boiled water to the resulting infusion to reach the initial volume (200ml). Dosage and administration: Take 1 cup before bedtime. Contraindications: Individual hypersensitivity to the plant, pregnancy. Interaction with other drugs: Can be used with other drugs in complex therapy. Use during pregnancy and lactation: Not used during pregnancy and lactation. Effect on driving or operating machinery: No effect. Overdose: Diarrhea, water-salt metabolism disorder develop with overdose. Treatment is symptomatic. Special instructions: With prolonged use, habituation may develop, so it is recommended to periodically replace it with another laxative. Side effects: Allergic reactions may develop. No side effects are observed when the indicated dose is taken. Storage conditions: Store at room temperature, in a dry place protected from light. Shelf life: 2 years.
