What is it?
International Nonproprietary Name - Salbutamolum Composition Active substance: Salbutamol sulfate. Each ampoule contains 5 mg of Salbutamol (equivalent to 6 mg of Salbutamol sulfate), diluted in 2.5 ml of sterile isotonic physiological solution; Excipients: Sodium chloride, water for injection, and sulfuric acid. Pharmacological Action The active substance of the medication - Salbutamol, belongs to the group of bronchodilators, which relaxes the muscles of the airways, contributing to the widening of the airways in the lungs and, consequently, to easier breathing. The medication is intended for the treatment of chronic bronchospasm (obstruction of airways in the lungs) that does not respond to traditional therapy and during severe attacks of bronchial asthma. Contraindications Salbuair 5 mg must not be used: - If the patient is allergic (hypersensitive) to Salbutamol or any other ingredient of Salbuair 2.5 mg; - During premature labor or in case of risk of premature termination of pregnancy. Special Precautions Consultation with a doctor is necessary before starting treatment with this medication if the patient has: - Heart disease, irregular heartbeat, or angina; - Hyperfunction of the thyroid gland; - High potassium levels in the blood; - Diabetes; - High lactate levels in the blood (lactic acidosis), as these may exacerbate respiratory problems; - Simultaneous use of Salbutamol and Ipratropium bromide, as ocular changes such as angle-closure glaucoma may develop. Interactions with Other Medicines Inform your doctor or pharmacist if the patient is taking, has recently taken, or plans to take any other medicines, including over-the-counter drugs. Some medications may interact with Salbuair 5 mg. It is important to inform your doctor if the patient is taking the following medications: - Preparations containing non-selective beta-blockers, such as Propranolol; - Certain medications for depression (so-called monoamine oxidase inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants); - Preparations containing anticholinergic substances (used to treat asthma, irritable bowel syndrome, Parkinson's disease, and urinary incontinence); - Other medications that help ease breathing, such as Terbutaline. Pregnancy and Breastfeeding If the administration of Salbuair 5 mg during pregnancy or breastfeeding is a necessary requirement, a careful assessment of the benefit-risk ratio should be made, taking into account the severity of the clinical picture. Driving and Operating Machinery No cases of any influence of Salbuair 5 mg on the ability to drive or operate machinery have been described. Use in Athletes The medication contains Salbutamol, which may cause a positive result in doping control tests. Dosage and Administration Salbuair 5 mg should always be used exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If you have any questions, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Use in Children and Adults The recommended dose is 2.5 mg up to 4 times a day. The doctor may increase the dose to 5 mg up to 4 times a day. According to the doctor's recommendation, the nebulizer can be used daily, regularly, or in case of noisy breathing or respiratory distress. Salbuair 5 mg should be used with a suitable nebulizer device. The generated vapor should be inhaled through a face mask or a special mouthpiece. The selection and use of the nebulizer should be in accordance with the doctor's recommendations.
