Inhaler use instructions (for patients): Inhaler check: Before the first use of the inhaler, remove the cap from the mouthpiece, applying slight pressure to its sides, hold the inhaler in one hand between your thumb and other fingers so that the thumb is placed at the base of the inhaler below the mouthpiece, shake well and release one puff into the air to ensure the inhaler is working. If using an inhaler with a dose counter, release several puffs into the air until the dose counter shows 120, which will allow you to ensure it is working. Inhaler use: 1. Remove the cap from the mouthpiece by applying slight pressure to its sides. 2. Inspect the inhaler inside and out, including the mouthpiece, to detect foreign objects. 3. Shake the inhaler well to ensure any foreign objects are removed and the contents of the inhaler are evenly distributed. 4. Hold the inhaler vertically between your thumb and other fingers with the base upwards, so that the thumb is placed at the base of the inhaler below the mouthpiece. 5. Exhale as deeply as possible, then place the mouthpiece in your mouth between your teeth and seal your lips around it so as not to touch it with your teeth. 6. As soon as you start inhaling through your mouth, press the tip of the inhaler to release the salbutamol preparation, while continuing to inhale slowly and deeply. 7. While holding your breath, remove the inhaler from your mouth and remove your finger from its tip. Hold your breath for as long as possible. 8. To release the second puff, hold the inhaler vertically and after about 30 seconds, repeat steps 3-7. 9. After using the inhaler, be sure to rinse your mouth with water and spit it out. 10. Immediately replace the cap on the mouthpiece until it clicks into place. If you do not hear a click when closing, rotate the cap and try to reattach it.
