See blog: COLIN — an anti-bloating medicine for people of all ages. Dosage Form: Capsule, 40 mg. Oral suspension, 30 ml. Pharmacological Group: Other drugs for functional gastrointestinal disorders. ATC Code: A03AX13. Pharmacological Properties: COLIN is an anti-flatulence agent. It reduces the surface tension of gas bubbles in the gastrointestinal tract mucus and chyme, inhibits their formation, and promotes their breakdown. The released gas bubbles are absorbed by the intestinal wall mucosa or excreted unchanged through intestinal peristalsis. As a result, the total amount of gas and pressure in the intestinal lumen decreases. Additionally, simethicone forms a protective layer on the gastrointestinal mucosa, protecting it from aggressive factors. During ultrasound and X-ray examinations of the gastrointestinal tract, simethicone prevents image artifacts caused by gas bubbles and foam in the digestive tract. Pharmacokinetics: Simethicone is chemically inert and is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. It is excreted unchanged after passing through the digestive system. Indications: - Excessive gas production and accumulation in the gastrointestinal tract (meteorism, dyspepsia, abdominal bloating, aerophagia, Remheld's syndrome, gas formation in the postoperative period); - Pre-preparation period for abdominal and pelvic organ examinations using X-ray, ultrasound, and instrumental methods; - Poisoning with surfactants, synthetic detergents. Dosage and Administration: COLIN is taken orally during or after meals, if necessary, before bedtime. Adults and children over 6 years of age are prescribed 1-2 capsules or 25-50 drops 3-5 times a day. Infants and children under 6 years of age are given 10-15 drops 2-3 times a day during or after meals. Shake the suspension before use! For diagnostic examinations: Take 2 capsules 3 times a day the day before the examination, and 2 capsules in the morning on the day of the examination on an empty stomach, or 50 drops 3 times a day for 2 days before the examination, 50 drops on an empty stomach in the morning on the day of the examination, and 50 drops immediately before the examination. In case of poisoning with synthetic detergents, the dose of COLIN is determined by the severity of intoxication (not less than 320 mg).
