What is it?

Tekfin 1% Cream is for topical use. Active ingredient: Each gram of cream contains 10 mg Terbinafine hydrochloride. Excipients: Benzyl alcohol, sodium hydroxide, sorbitan monostearate, cetyl palmitate, cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol, polysorbate 60, isopropyl myristate, deionized water. Read the package leaflet carefully before you start using this medicine as it contains important information for you. Keep this package leaflet. You may need to read it again. If you have any further questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist. This medicine has been prescribed for you personally and should not be passed on to others. If you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, tell your doctor or pharmacist. Follow the instructions in this package leaflet. Do not exceed or reduce the dose prescribed by your doctor. This package leaflet contains the following headings: 1. What is Tekfin and what is it used for? 2. What should you pay attention to before using Tekfin? 3. How should you use Tekfin? 4. What side effects can occur? 5. How to store Tekfin? 1. What is Tekfin and what is it used for? The active ingredient in Tekfin is terbinafine hydrochloride. Tekfin is an effective medicine against fungal infections. Tekfin is an effective medicine that kills or stops the growth of certain fungi that cause skin problems. Tekfin is used to treat fungal infections such as athlete's foot (Tinea pedis), jock itch (Tinea cruris), ringworm (Tinea corporis), candidiasis, and pityriasis versicolor. 2. Precautions before using Tekfin Do not use Tekfin if you are allergic to terbinafine or any of the other ingredients in Tekfin. Take special care with Tekfin Tekfin is for external use only. Do not apply Tekfin to the face. Tekfin may cause eye irritation. If the cream accidentally gets into your eyes, remove the cream and rinse your eyes with plenty of water. If any symptoms persist, consult a doctor. Wash your hands after applying the cream. Tekfin contains cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol, which may cause localized skin reactions such as acne. Since fungal and yeast infections can be transmitted to others, you should use your own towel and clothing, which should not be used by others. To prevent re-infection, wash towels and clothing frequently. If any of these warnings have applied to you in the past, consult your doctor. Using Tekfin with food and drink Tekfin can be taken with or without food. Pregnancy Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, consult your doctor. Consult your doctor before starting Tekfin. Tekfin should not be used during pregnancy unless clearly needed. If you become pregnant while using this medicine, consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately. Breastfeeding Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine. Do not breastfeed while using Tekfin. Do not allow the baby to come into contact with the breasts or other areas where you apply this medicine. Driving and using machinery Applying Tekfin to the skin does not affect your ability to drive. Information about some of the excipients in Tekfin: Tekfin contains substances called cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol. These substances may cause localized skin reactions such as contact dermatitis. Using with other medicines Do not apply other medications to the areas where Tekfin cream is applied. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. 3. How to use Tekfin Instructions for correct use and dose/frequency of use: Apply Tekfin to the infected areas of the skin as follows: Athlete's foot (Tinea pedis): once daily for one week. Jock itch (Tinea cruris) and ringworm (Tinea corporis): once daily for one week. Rash (Candidiasis): once or twice daily for one week. Pityriasis versicolor: once or twice daily for two weeks. Even if the infection clears up within a few days, continue to apply the cream for the recommended duration. If you do not apply the cream regularly or stop applying it too soon, the infection may return. Your skin condition may improve a few days after starting Tekfin. However, it may take longer for the damaged skin to fully recover after the infection has cleared. Tekfin's effect may continue even after the treatment period has ended. If there is no improvement within 2 weeks of starting treatment, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Method of administration: Apply the cream as follows: Clean and dry the affected skin and surrounding area and wash your hands. When using the tube for the first time, it will be sealed. Puncture the cap using the pointed tip. Apply a small amount of cream to your fingertip. Replace the cap. Apply the cream in a thin layer to the affected skin and surrounding area. Rub the cream in with gentle movements. Wash your hands, otherwise the infection may spread to other areas of the skin or be transmitted to others. If the affected skin is located between the fingers or toes, in the groin, armpits, or under the breasts, you can cover the skin with sterile gauze after applying the cream. This is especially important before bedtime. If using gauze, use a new and clean piece of gauze each time you apply the cream. For successful treatment, the affected skin should be washed regularly to ensure cleanliness. Dry the skin by gently patting it. If you experience itching, do not scratch the skin, as this can cause further skin damage, prolong healing time, or lead to infection. Different age groups: Use in children: The safety of use in children has not been established. Tekfin is not recommended for children under 16 years of age. Use in the elderly: Tekfin can be used by people over 65 years of age. Special cases of use: Kidney/liver failure: No information is available regarding dose adjustment for patients with kidney or liver failure. Unless otherwise advised by your doctor, follow the instructions in this package leaflet. Your doctor will inform you about the duration of Tekfin treatment. Stopping treatment prematurely is not recommended, as this may lead to worsening of the disease. If you notice that Tekfin is too strong or too weak, consult your doctor or pharmacist. If you use more Tekfin than you should: If you accidentally apply more cream than necessary to the skin, remove the cream. This will not cause harm. If you or someone else, especially a child, swallows Tekfin, seek medical attention immediately. Your doctor or pharmacist will provide the necessary advice. If you use more Tekfin than you should, consult your doctor or pharmacist. If you forget to use Tekfin: If you miss a dose, apply the cream as soon as you remember and then continue with your usual schedule. When it is time for the next dose, apply the required dose after remembering and continue with your usual schedule. Use the cream as instructed in this package leaflet. Forgetting to use the cream may lead to re-infection. Do not use a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. 4. What are the possible side effects? Like all medicines, this medicine may cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Side effects are categorized as follows: Very common: affects at least 1 in 10 people. Common: affects less than 1 in 10 people but more than 1 in 100 people. Uncommon: affects less than 1 in 100 people but more than 1 in 1,000 people. Rare: affects less than 1 in 1,000 people. Very rare: affects less than 1 in 10,000 people. If you experience any of the following side effects, tell your doctor: Common: Skin peeling (skin infection). Itching (pruritus). Uncommon: Skin damage. Skin crusting. Skin disease. Skin discoloration (pigmentation disorder). Skin redness (erythema). Burning sensation on the skin. Pain. Pain at the application site. Irritation at the application site. Rare: Eye irritation. Dry skin. Skin peeling and itching (contact dermatitis). Skin peeling with itching, redness, and burning sensation (eczema). Worsening of skin condition. Frequency unknown: These side effects are based on post-marketing testing and their frequency cannot be estimated from the available data. Allergic reactions. Skin peeling. All the above-mentioned effects are side effects of Tekfin. Reporting of side effects: If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet. You can also report side effects directly via the national reporting system. By reporting side effects, you can help provide more information on the safety of this medicine. If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. 5. How to store Tekfin: Keep Tekfin out of the reach of children. Store in its original packaging. Store below 25°C. Keep the tube tightly closed. Use the medicine before the expiry date. Do not use Dikloron after the expiry date indicated on the packaging. Do not dispose of expired or unused medicines in the trash! Hand them over to the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization.
