Properties
What is it?
Composition One tablet of Trimecor MR contains 35 mg of the active substance – trimetazidine dihydrochloride. Pharmacological group: Antianginal, anti-ischemic agent. Mechanism of action Trimecor MR regulates the energy metabolism of cells in ischemic and hypoxic areas, prevents a decrease in intracellular ATP, ensures the normal functioning of membrane ion channels, transmembrane transport of potassium and sodium ions, and maintains cellular homeostasis. Trimecor MR inhibits the process of fatty acid oxidation, increases glucose oxidation, and helps restore the ratio between glycolysis and oxidative decarboxylation. Through these mechanisms, trimetazidine provides protection of the myocardium from ischemia. The replacement of fatty acid oxidation with glucose oxidation is the basis of the drug's antianginal effect. Trimetazidine promotes the energy metabolism of the heart muscle and neurosensory organs during ischemia, reduces intracellular acidosis, reduces the migration and infiltration of polymorphonuclear neutrophils in ischemic and reperfused cardiac tissues, helps reduce the area of myocardial damage, without affecting hemodynamics. In ischemic heart disease, trimetazidine improves coronary reserve and thus prevents the development of exercise-induced ischemia, limits sharp fluctuations in blood pressure, and does not affect heart rhythm. The drug reduces the frequency of anginal attacks, reduces the need for nitrates, and in patients with ischemic dysfunction, improves left ventricular contractility. Peak concentration is reached on average 5 hours after administration. Trimetazidine is excreted unchanged, mainly by the kidneys. T1/2 – 7 hours, in elderly patients T1/2 is 12 hours. For more information, see the blog: Trimecor – What to Know About the Georgian-Made Medication Indications - Cardiology: Long-term treatment of ischemic heart disease: prevention of anginal attacks (monotherapy or as part of combination therapy); - Otorhinolaryngology: Cochleovestibular disorders of ischemic etiology (dizziness, tinnitus, hearing loss); - Ophthalmology: Chorioretinal disorders with ischemic components. Dosage and administration Trimecor MR is prescribed one tablet twice a day with meals, in the morning and evening. The duration of treatment is individual. Side effects Gastrointestinal system: rarely – nausea, vomiting. Allergic reactions are possible. Contraindications Pregnancy, lactation, hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. Special instructions During lactation, if Trimecor needs to be prescribed, it is recommended to discontinue breastfeeding, as it is not known whether it is excreted in breast milk. Trimecor MR is intended for the basic therapy of angina and not for the relief of attacks. The drug is not used for the initial therapy of unstable angina and myocardial infarction. The use of Trimecor MR is not recommended in patients with renal insufficiency when CC is less than 15 ml/min and severe liver dysfunction. No interactions of trimetazidine with other medications or cases of overdose have been described. The drug does not affect the ability to drive a car or perform active work. Storage conditions and expiry date The shelf life of the drug is 3 years, store at a temperature of 10-25°C, protected from light, in a dry place inaccessible to children!
