Properties: Alpha-Lipoic Acid (ALA) is a natural dietary supplement synthesized in the human body, specifically in mitochondria, and is a cofactor for enzymes, two of which are involved in the Krebs cycle and provide energy to tissues. Alpha-Lipoic Acid (ALA) is a powerful antioxidant. It acts freely in both hydrophilic and hydrophobic environments and scavenges free radicals that can damage many organs and organ systems.
