Althea Syrup 5% 125g Bottle Composition: 100 g contains: Marshmallow root extract 5% - 4.9 g Sucrose - 64 g Ethanol 60% - 1 g Benzoic acid - 0.1 g Pharmacological properties: The preparation's emollient, coating, and expectorant action is due to the high concentration of mucilaginous substances extracted from marshmallow root. Hydrolysis of marshmallow root produces galacturonic acid, galactose, glucose, rhamnose, and arabinose. The mucilaginous substances in the preparation form a protective layer on the surface of inflamed or very sensitive areas, promoting rapid regeneration. The preparation also has an antitussive effect. Indications: The preparation is used for the treatment of upper respiratory tract conditions with cough (dry cough, wet cough with difficult-to-expectorate sputum, bronchitis, tracheitis, bronchial asthma), as well as other cold-induced diseases (sore throat and pharynx, acute respiratory diseases, influenza, and others). Dosage and administration: Children aged 3 to 6 years: 1/2 dosing cap (5 ml) 2-3 times a day. Children aged 6 to 12 years: 1/2 dosing cap (5 ml) 3-4 times a day. Children over 12 years of age: 1 dosing cap (10 ml) 3-4 times a day. Side effects: Not described. The preparation is not recommended for use in cases of hypersensitivity to sodium benzoate. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation.
