What is it?
Composition: The active substances are amoxicillin trihydrate and potassium clavulanate. One sachet contains 1148mg amoxicillin trihydrate, equivalent to 1g amoxicillin, and 148.9mg potassium clavulanate, corresponding to 125mg clavulanic acid. Excipients are silicon dioxide, sucrose, xanthan gum, sodium saccharin, orange powder. Indications: This medication is used to treat the following infections: Upper and lower respiratory tract infections, including: Middle ear infections (otitis media); Acute infections of the paranasal sinuses (acute sinusitis); Exacerbation of chronic bronchitis; Lung infections; Kidney and lower urinary tract infections; Genital infections. Note: Pneumonia treatment should be initiated parenterally, especially for severe community-acquired pneumonia. Official international guidelines for the use of appropriate antimicrobial agents should be considered. Contraindications: If the patient is allergic to the active substances amoxicillin and/or clavulanic acid, or to any of the other ingredients of Amoxiclav-Denk 1000-125. If the patient has a history of allergic reactions to certain types of beta-lactam antibiotics (e.g., penicillins, cephalosporins), as this increases the risk of anaphylactic shock. Therefore, it is necessary to inform the doctor in detail about the antibiotics the patient has taken in the past. If the patient has had liver problems or jaundice in the past after taking Amoxiclav-Denk 1000-125. In such cases, the doctor should be informed. Pregnancy: Ampicillin intake in pregnant women causes a temporary decrease in estradiol (hormone) and related compounds. This effect may also occur with amoxicillin-clavulanic acid intake. Dosage and Administration: Amoxiclav-Denk 1000-125 should always be taken exactly as prescribed by the doctor. If the patient is unsure about the treatment, they should consult their doctor or pharmacist. Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dosage is as follows: Dosage: The dose of amoxicillin-clavulanic acid depends individually on the patient's age, weight, and kidney function, the severity and location of the infection, and the suspected or confirmed pathogen. As a rule, the decisive factor for dosing is the patient's body weight, regardless of whether it corresponds to the patient's age in individual cases. Adults weighing 40kg: Take 1 sachet 2-3 times a day. Single doses should be taken at regular intervals throughout the day, if possible; at 12-hour intervals if the medication is taken twice a day. The contents of the sachet should be dissolved in half a glass of water before taking. Elderly patients: Also take 1 sachet 2-3 times a day, provided there are no signs of kidney or liver dysfunction. Patients with liver dysfunction: If the patient has signs of liver dysfunction, the doctor should regularly monitor their liver function. If liver function deteriorates during treatment with Amoxiclav-Denk 1000-125, treatment should be discontinued. There are no specific recommendations for dosing in patients with liver dysfunction. Administration: A single dose should be taken at regular intervals throughout the day. The contents of the sachet should be dissolved in half a glass of water before taking. Amoxiclav-Denk 1000-125 gives the best results if taken at the beginning of a meal, after the first bite. Taking Amoxiclav-Denk 1000-125 in this way is most effective. However, Amoxiclav-Denk 1000-125 is also effective when taken before or after a meal. Storage: Keep out of reach of children, do not use after the expiry date. Shelf life: 36 months. Store below 30C, protected from moisture and light.
