What is it?

Amoxiclav® 2x 400 mg+57 mg/5ml Powder for oral suspension Active substances are amoxicillin and clavulanic acid. Each 5 ml (1 dosing pipette) of oral suspension contains 400 mg of amoxicillin in trihydrate form and 57 mg of clavulanic acid in potassium salt form. Excipients Anhydrous citric acid, sodium citrate, microcrystalline cellulose, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, xanthan gum, anhydrous colloidal silicon dioxide, sodium saccharin, mannitol, wild cherry and lemon flavor. Indications Amoxiclav is an antibiotic used to treat infectious diseases. It belongs to the group of beta-lactam antibiotics with a broad spectrum of antibacterial activity. Amoxiclav exerts its therapeutic effect by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall; therefore, it kills the bacteria that cause the infection. Amoxiclav is used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections: -Upper respiratory tract infections (including ENT pathologies), such as sinusitis, otitis media, recurrent tonsillitis; -Lower respiratory tract infections, mainly severe exacerbations of bronchopneumonia and chronic bronchitis; -Genitourinary and abdominal infections; -Skin and soft tissue infections, as well as connective tissue infections, including animal bites; -Severe dental abscesses with inflammation of surrounding tissues. Dosage and administration Dosage The dose and frequency of administration of the preparation are determined by the attending physician. This depends on the type of infection, age, and weight of the child. Newborns up to 2 months of age For this age group, Amoxiclav® suspension 156.25 mg/5ml is recommended. Children from 2 months to 12 years (with body weight up to 40 kg) For children weighing up to 40 mg, the daily dose per kilogram of body weight is 25-45 mg (calculated as amoxicillin), divided into two doses, depending on the severity of the infectious process. -For mild or moderate infections (upper respiratory tract infections, e.g., chronic tonsillitis, lower respiratory tract infections, as well as skin and soft tissue infections), the daily dose is 25 mg/kg/day (calculated as amoxicillin), divided into two doses. -For children with severe infections (upper respiratory tract infections, e.g., otitis media and sinusitis, lower respiratory tract infections, bronchopneumonia, and urinary tract infections), the standard daily dose is 45 mg/kg/day (calculated as amoxicillin), divided into two doses. To facilitate dosing and administration of the suspension, a dosing pipette (one pipette – 5 ml) is included. Dosage of the preparation for children Age (body weight) Severe infection Moderate infection 7-12 years old (22-40 kg) 10.0 ml twice daily 5.0 ml twice daily 2-6 years old (13-21 kg) 5.0 ml twice daily 2.5 ml twice daily For children under 2 years of age, the dose is calculated based on body weight. For example, if a child weighs 6.5 kg, the required dose for a moderate infection will be 1.0 ml of suspension twice daily, and for a severe infection, 1.8 ml twice daily.
