What is it?
Composition and Dosage Form: (6S) 5-Methyltetrahydrofolate glucosamine salt (5-MTHF/Quatrefolic®) 400mcg. N60 capsules. The folate (Vitamin B9) in Actifol is the metabolically active form of folate and is characterized by maximum bioavailability. The folate in Actifol is supplied to the body in a ready-to-use form and does not require additional enzymatic conversion, thus preventing the accumulation of unmetabolized folic acid and its associated undesirable side effects. Folate, known as Vitamin B9, is responsible for the most important processes in the body. Folate plays a significant role in DNA synthesis and cell division. It is especially important for pregnant women, as its deficiency increases the risk of neural tube defects in the fetus. Folic acid ensures normal placental maturation and function during the first trimester of pregnancy and protects the fetus from the damaging effects of teratogenic factors. Folate deficiency is also associated with chronic fatigue, headaches, memory impairment, and various anemias. Folic acid reduces homocysteine concentration in the blood, thereby preventing damage to the vascular endothelium. Folic acid plays a crucial role in the functioning of the immune and nervous systems. Folic acid regulates brain function and improves neuromediator synthesis, thereby improving mood and memory.
