What is it?
Composition One ampoule of the preparation contains: Active substance: Ketoprofen 100 mg. Excipients: Arginine, Citric acid monohydrate, Benzyl alcohol, Sodium hydroxide or Hydrochloric acid, Water for injection. ATC code of the preparation: M01AE03 Pharmacotherapeutic group Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Propionic acid derivatives. Pharmacological properties Arthrocool is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, a derivative of propionic acid. It has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic effects. The mechanism of action is related to the inhibition of cyclooxygenase-1 and cyclooxygenase-2 activity and the reduction of prostaglandin biosynthesis, which play a key role in the pathogenesis of inflammation, pain, and fever. The pronounced analgesic effect of ketoprofen is due to two mechanisms: peripheral – by suppressing prostaglandin synthesis, and central, which is due to the inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis in the central and peripheral nervous systems, as well as the effect on the biological activity of other neurotropic substances that play a key role in the release of pain mediators in the spinal cord. In addition, ketoprofen has anti-bradykinin activity, stabilizes lysosomal membranes, and significantly slows down neutrophil activity in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. It inhibits platelet aggregation. Indications for use Symptomatic therapy of inflammatory processes of various origins accompanied by pain: - Rheumatoid arthritis - Ankylosing spondylitis - Psoriatic arthritis - Reactive arthritis - Gout, pseudogout - Rheumatism without joint damage (tendinitis, bursitis, shoulder capsulitis) Pain syndrome (including postoperative and post-traumatic pain, algomenorrhea, pain in case of tumor metastases) Method of administration and dosage Arthrocool is used for intramuscular injection. Administer 2 ml (100 mg) of the preparation 1-2 times a day. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 300 mg. The duration of use is several days. Contraindications - Hypersensitivity to ketoprofen, acetylsalicylic acid, and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs - Gastrointestinal diseases in the exacerbation phase - Severe liver and kidney disorders - Tendency to bleeding - Decompensated heart failure - Postoperative period after aortocoronary bypass surgery - History of bronchial asthma, urticaria, and rhinitis caused by acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs - Third trimester of pregnancy - Lactation - Children under 15 years of age Side effects Gastrointestinal system: possible abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, meteorism; rarely – gastrointestinal bleeding. Central nervous system: rarely – asthenia, headache, dizziness. Other: rarely – transient dysuria, skin rash. Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding The preparation can be used during the first and second trimesters of pregnancy only if the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus. The use of Arthrocool in the third trimester of pregnancy and during lactation is contraindicated.
