Acetylcysteine exhibits mucolytic activity against all types of sputum – mucous, muco-purulent, purulent. It facilitates sputum expectoration by increasing mucociliary clearance.Acetylcysteine can reduce bacterial adhesion to the epithelial cells of the bronchial mucosa by reducing sputum viscosity and increasing mucociliary clearance. Acetylcysteine also has antioxidant and pneumoprotective properties (which ensure effective protection of the respiratory organs from the toxic effects of negative factors such as: inflammatory metabolites, environmental factors, cigarette smoke, due to the ability of sulfhydryl groups to bind free radicals). In addition, acetylcysteine promotes increased glutathione synthesis, which is an important detoxification factor. This ability of acetylcysteine allows it to be used as an antidote in acute poisoning with paracetamol and other substances (aldehydes, phenols, etc.).Thus, the functional activity and morphological integrity of lung tissue cells are maintained. The mucolytic properties of acetylcysteine begin to manifest 1-2 days after the start of therapy. When used prophylactically, acetylcysteine reduces the frequency and severity of exacerbations of chronic bronchitis and cystic fibrosis.Indications for useRespiratory diseases accompanied by increased formation of difficult-to-remove viscous sputum:- Acute and chronic bronchitis;- Obstructive bronchitis;- Pulmonary obstructive emphysema;- Laryngotracheitis;- Pneumonia;- Bronchiectasis;- Bronchial asthma;- Bronchiolitis;- Atelectasis caused by bronchial obstruction by a mucous plug;- Cystic fibrosis;- To facilitate the removal of secretions in acute and chronic sinusitis, otitis media;- Removal of viscous sputum from the respiratory tract in post-traumatic and postoperative conditions, prevention and treatment of postoperative respiratory complications.Method of administration and dosageASIBROX is taken orally. One tablet containing 600 mg of acetylcysteine is dissolved in 200 ml of drinking, room temperature warm water, or one tablet containing 200 mg of acetylcysteine is dissolved in 100 ml of drinking, room temperature warm water. The preparation is taken after meals. Additional fluid intake enhances the mucolytic effect of acetylcysteine. Take immediately after dissolution; in exceptional cases, the prepared solution can be stored for 2 hours. For adults and adolescents over 14 years of age, the preparation is prescribed at a dose of 200 mg 2-3 times a day or at a dose of 600 mg once a day.For children aged 6 to 14 years, it is recommended to take 200 mg twice a day.For children aged 2 to 6 years, 200 mg is prescribed once a day.
