What is it?
AZIMAK Powder for Oral Suspension 200mg/5ml 30ml Composition: Active substance: Each 5 ml of the prepared suspension contains 209.6 mg of azithromycin dihydrate, equivalent to 200.00 mg of azithromycin. Excipients: Sucrose, sodium phosphate, sodium benzoate, hydroxypropylcellulose, xanthan gum, cherry flavor, banana flavor. Indications: Infections of the respiratory tract, throat or nose (such as bronchitis, pneumonia, tonsillitis, sore throat (pharyngitis) and sinusitis); Pharyngitis/tonsillitis caused by Streptococcus pyogenes in individuals with hypersensitivity to penicillin; Acute ear infections (acute otitis media); Skin and soft tissue infections (abscess, furuncle); Sexually transmitted infections caused by Chlamydia; Soft tissue ulcers caused by Haemophilus ducreyi and uncomplicated genital infections caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae (however, infection caused by Treponema pallidum should be excluded). Dosage and administration: AZIMAK suspension is mainly prescribed for children weighing less than 45 kg. It is also used for adults and older children who have difficulty swallowing capsules. AZIMAK is taken once a day. For the treatment of sexually transmitted infections caused by Chlamydia trachomatis, Haemophilus ducreyi or susceptible Neisseria gonorrhoeae, the dose is 1000 mg. The drug is taken once orally. For the treatment of pharyngitis/tonsillitis caused by S. pyogenes, AZIMAK is prescribed for 5 days, 500 mg on the first day and then 250 mg daily on days II-V. In all other cases, the drug is prescribed at a dose of 1500 mg, i.e., 500 mg daily for 3 days. Children weighing more than 45 kg should use the adult dose. For children weighing less than 45 kg, the daily dose is 10 mg/kg and is prescribed for 3 days. Except for streptococcal pharyngitis, the total dose in children is 30 mg/kg, i.e., a single daily dose of 10 mg/kg for 3 days or 10 mg/kg on the first day and then 5 mg/kg on days II-V, for a 5-day course. For acute ear infections (acute otitis media), a single dose of 30 mg/kg may be administered. For pediatric streptococcal infections, 10 mg/kg or 20 mg/kg for 3 days is indicated, but not more than 500 mg per day. Rarely, the doctor may prescribe the drug according to a different regimen. Storage: Keep out of reach of children. Store at a temperature not exceeding 25˚C. The prepared solution should be used within 5 days of preparation.
