What is it?
Composition: Each lozenge contains as active ingredients: 5 mg Chlorhexidine dihydrochloride, 5 mg Benzocaine. Excipients: Mannitol, Microcrystalline cellulose, Povidone, Magnesium stearate, Sodium cyclamate, Sodium saccharin, Menthol flavor, Orange flavor. Pharmacotherapeutic group: Antiseptics for local use. Indications: Temporary and symptomatic treatment of mild local infections of the oral cavity and throat: sore throat and irritation, hoarseness. Dosage and administration: Adults: If necessary, the tablet should be slowly dissolved in the mouth. The interval between doses should be at least 2 hours. Do not take more than 8 tablets per day. If symptoms worsen or persist for more than 2 days, or if high fever, headache, nausea, or vomiting occur, consult a doctor. The preparation is intended for slow dissolution in the oral cavity. It should not be chewed or swallowed. Side effects: Pigmentation of the oral mucosa, discoloration of the tongue, which disappears on its own and is not dangerous, decreased taste perception and tartar on teeth, irritation of the oral mucosa, tip of the tongue, allergic reactions, runny nose, itching, skin rash, swelling, itching or redness around the mouth. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to chlorhexidine, benzocaine, or any of the ingredients of the preparation. Interaction with other drugs: Benzylor should not be used with other medications containing antiseptics. Benzocaine interacts with cholinesterase inhibitors, sulfonamides. Treatment with Benzylor should be discontinued 3 days before diagnostic tests using Benthiromide. Special instructions: Patients with intolerance to ether-type anesthetics, para-aminobenzoic acid, parabens, or paraphenylenediamine may also be intolerant to benzocaine. Elderly patients with serious illnesses or weakness are sensitive to the systemic toxic effects of benzocaine and require lower doses of the medication. Risk-benefit assessment is necessary before taking the preparation in the following situations: treated area of oral infection; severe mucosal trauma, staining of dental fillings - chlorhexidine causes permanent pigment spots on dental fillings. To reduce calculus and pigmentation caused by chlorhexidine, adequate oral hygiene with a special anti-tartar toothpaste is necessary. Pregnancy and lactation: Consult your doctor before taking the preparation during pregnancy and lactation. Driving and operating machinery: The medication does not affect the ability to drive or operate machinery. Overdose: In case of overdose, side effects related to rapid absorption of benzocaine may occur, including allergic reactions, as well as tingling, itching, swelling, redness in and around the mouth. Rarely - decreased or double vision, dizziness, ringing in the ears, excitability, drowsiness, decreased cardiovascular activity, increased sweating, decreased blood pressure or heart rhythm disturbances. In children, overdose may manifest as symptoms of alcohol intoxication - slurred speech, drowsiness, unsteady gait. Treatment is symptomatic, oxygen therapy, infusion therapy, and appropriate measures under medical supervision. Appearance and packaging: The package contains #20 lozenges in an aluminum blister.
