Benzylpenicillin solutions are prepared extemporaneously. For intramuscular injection, add 1-3 ml of sterile water for injection, or 0.9% sodium chloride solution, or 0.5% Novocaine solution to the vial contents. For bolus intravenous injection, a single dose of 1,000,000 - 2,000,000 IU is dissolved in 5-10 ml of water for injection or isotonic sodium chloride solution and administered slowly over 3-5 minutes. For intravenous infusion (60-80 drops per minute), 2,000,000 - 5,000,000 IU of antibiotic is dissolved in 100-200 ml of 0.9% sodium chloride or 5% glucose solution. For adults, 10,000 - 20,000 IU of the drug per 1 ml is administered into the abdominal or pleural cavity. For children, 2,000 - 5,000 IU per 1 ml. Before injection, 5-10 ml of cerebrospinal fluid is withdrawn from the cerebrospinal canal and added to the same amount of antibiotic solution. Injections are repeated for 2-3 days, after which intramuscular administration is resumed. Syphilis and gonorrhea are treated according to specific regimens. Depending on the form and severity of the disease, the drug is administered for 7-10 days up to 2 months or longer (e.g., sepsis, septic endocarditis). Contraindications Hypersensitivity to β-lactam antibiotics. Bronchial asthma, urticaria, and other allergic diseases. Intralumbar administration is contraindicated in epilepsy. Pregnancy and Lactation The use of the drug during pregnancy is permissible when the expected benefit to the mother clearly outweighs the potential risk of adverse effects on the fetus. If the drug is necessary during lactation, breastfeeding should be discontinued. Storage Conditions and Shelf Life Store in a dry place at room temperature. Keep out of reach of children. Shelf life: 3 years. Do not use the drug after the expiry date indicated on the packaging. Dispensing Regulations By prescription (Group II).
