What is it?
Fosfomycin Indications: Fosfomycin belongs to a group of medications known as urinary tract antimicrobial agents. Berni is indicated for the prevention and treatment of acute uncomplicated lower urinary tract infections caused by microorganisms susceptible to fosfomycin Dosage and Administration: Always take the medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor or pharmacist. The contents of one sachet should be dissolved in half a glass (50-75 ml) of cold water or another beverage, stirred until completely dissolved, and taken immediately after preparation. It is recommended to take Berni on an empty stomach (see "Taking Berni with Food and Drinks"), preferably before bedtime after emptying the bladder Adults and Adolescents (12-18 years): For acute uncomplicated lower urinary tract infections caused by microorganisms susceptible to fosfomycin, the dosage is one sachet of 3 g once daily. For the prevention of urinary tract infections during surgical and diagnostic procedures: the first sachet is taken 3 hours before surgery; the second sachet is used 24 hours after the first dose. In elderly patients and in complicated clinical situations (treatment of elderly patients in bed, recurrent infection), it may be necessary to use two 3 g doses with a 24-hour interval Contraindications: This medication cannot be used in children under 12 years of age Pregnancy and Lactation: If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, inform your doctor.
