What is it?

Clinical-pharmacological group - Preparations for topical use Composition and dosage form 7.5% liquid soap 120ml bottle #1 7.5% liquid soap 1000ml bottle #1 Active substance Povidone-iodine 75 mg per milliliter of solution (equivalent to 7.5% solution). Excipients: Nonylphenoxypoly (ethyleneoxy) ethanol ether, super lauryl diethanolamide, ethoxylated lanolin, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, purified water, sodium hydroxide. Pharmacological properties Betadine surgical solution is a disinfectant that destroys various pathogenic organisms (antimicrobial effect) and is used for hygienic and pre-operative hand disinfection. It destroys bacteria, fungi, viruses, and protozoa. The preparation is practically non-toxic. Indications The preparation is used for hygienic hand disinfection and pre-operative hand disinfection. The preparation is used in adults and children from 6 months of age. Dosage and administration Betadine surgical solution is used in concentrated form and does not require dilution. Hygienic hand disinfection: Wash hands and elbows with warm, running water, then apply 5 ml of Betadine surgical solution to one palm and distribute over both palms and elbows. If necessary, the preparation can be slightly moistened to form foam; treat hands for at least one minute and rinse with warm, running water. Surgical hand disinfection: Both hands and elbows should be treated using soap and warm water. The soap should then be removed with a large amount of running water to avoid soap residue on hands and elbows. Using a dispenser, apply 10 ml of Betadine surgical solution to the palms and spread over hands and elbows. If necessary, the preparation can be moistened to form foam and hands treated for at least 2.5 minutes. Wash hands using sterile water and dry with a sterile cloth. Disinfection time required: 5 minutes Amount of Betadine surgical solution required for disinfection: 20 ml Side effects In sensitive patients, transient skin irritation may develop, such as itching, redness (even blistering), widespread rash, and pustulation. Before using Betadine surgical soap, hygienic or pre-surgical washing is recommended. In case of irritation or other undesirable reactions, consult a doctor for advice and discontinue the use of the preparation. Contraindications The preparation should not be used: in case of hypersensitivity to iodine or any of the excipients in the preparation, in certain thyroid diseases, in inflammatory skin rashes accompanied by blistering (dermatitis herpetiformis Duhring), and before diagnosis or treatment with radioactive iodine. It is used in children under 6 months of age only in exceptional cases (considering risk/benefit) and only under medical supervision. It is not used after the fourth month of pregnancy and during lactation without medical recommendation.
