Properties

What is it?

General characteristics: White or slightly yellowish powder Composition: 1 vial contains 1200000 IU sterile Benzathine Benzylpenicillin, 300000 IU sterile Benzylpenicillin Novocaine salt Dosage form: Powder for preparation of injection in vials Pharmacotherapeutic group: Antibiotic of the penicillin group, sensitive to the action of beta-lactamases Pharmacological properties: The spectrum of antimicrobial action of Bicilin is analogous to the spectrum of action of Benzylpenicillin. Bicilin is sensitive to Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus spp., except for penicillinase-producing strains, as well as Streptococcus spp., except for S. faecalis, Bacillus anthracis, Clostridium spp., Corynebacterium diphtheriae), as well as Gram-negative cocci (Neisseria gonorrhoae, Neisseria meningitidis), and Treponema pallidium. Most Gram-negative bacteria, mycobacteria, fungi, viruses, and protozoa are resistant to the drug's action. The bactericidal effect of the drug is due to the inhibition of the synthesis of mucopeptides of the microbial cell wall Indications: The drug is used for the treatment of infectious diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to Benzylpenicillin. Bicilin-5-KMP is also used for the prevention of rheumatism recurrence in children and adults throughout the year Method of administration and dosage: Bicilin-5-KMP is administered only intramuscularly! Bicilin-5-KMP suspension is prepared under aseptic conditions immediately before use. 5-6 ml of isotonic sodium chloride solution or sterile water for injection, or 0.25-0.5% Novocaine solution is injected into the vial containing the drug. The contents of the vial are shaken until a homogeneous suspension is obtained, which is injected deep into the upper outer quadrant of the buttock in adults at a dose of 1,500,000 IU once every 4 weeks. In preschool children, the drug is administered at a dose of 600,000 IU once every 3 weeks, and in children over 8 years of age, at a dose of 1,200,000 IU once every 4 weeks. More frequent injections than the above-mentioned method of administration are contraindicated Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to penicillin, sulfonamides, and novocaine, bronchial asthma, urticaria, hay fever, and other allergic diseases Storage conditions and shelf life: Store in a dry place, protected from children, at a temperature not exceeding +200 C Shelf life - 2 years Dispensing: By prescription
