What is it?
Bilastine Normon 20mg Tablets It is necessary to read the instructions for use carefully before taking the medication, as it contains important information for the patient. The instructions must be kept. It may be necessary to re-read them. If you have any additional questions, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist. The medication is intended for the patient only. It must not be given to others. Despite the similarity of symptoms, it may be harmful to them. If any side effects occur, the patient should consult their doctor or pharmacist. This includes possible side effects not listed in the instructions. Composition: The active substance is bilastine. Each tablet contains 20mg of bilastine. Other excipients are microcrystalline cellulose, sodium starch glycolate type A (from potato), colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate. Indication: Bilastine Normon is used to relieve the symptoms of hay fever (sneezing, itching, runny nose, nasal congestion, and red and watery eyes) and other forms of allergic rhinitis. It is also used to treat itchy skin rashes (hives or urticaria). Contraindication: If the patient is allergic to bilastine or any other ingredient of the medication. Warnings and Precautions: Before taking Bilastine Normon, consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have moderate to severe kidney impairment and are also taking other medications (see "Other medicines and Bilastine Normon"). This medicinal product contains 23mg of sodium (1 mmol) per film-coated tablet, meaning it is practically sodium-free. Children: Not for use in children under 12 years of age. Do not exceed the recommended dose. If symptoms persist, consult your doctor. Other medicines and Bilastine Normon: Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. In particular, consult your doctor if you are taking the following medicines: ketoconazole (an antifungal medicine); erythromycin (an antibiotic); diltiazem (used to treat angina); cyclosporine (used to suppress the immune system, thereby preventing organ rejection or reducing disease activity in autoimmune and allergic conditions such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis or rheumatoid arthritis); ritonavir (used to treat AIDS); rifampicin (an antibiotic). Taking Bilastine Normon with food, drink and alcohol: The tablets should not be taken with food or grapefruit juice or other fruit juices, as they reduce the effect of bilastine. Therefore, you should: take the tablet and wait one hour before eating or drinking fruit juice, or if you have eaten or drunk fruit juice, wait two hours before taking the tablet. Bilastine, at the recommended dose (20mg), does not enhance the drowsiness caused by alcohol. Pregnancy, lactation and fertility: There is no or limited data on the use of bilastine in pregnant women and during breastfeeding and its effect on fertility. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine.
