What is it?
Composition 5 ml of Butamir Syrup contains: 7.5 mg of Butamirate Citrate and, as excipients, sodium saccharin, sorbitol, benzoic acid, and apricot flavoring. Pharmacological Properties Absorption: After oral administration, butamirate citrate is rapidly and completely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Maximum concentration in the blood is observed within 1–1.5 hours. It undergoes metabolism in the liver, producing metabolites with antitussive effects. Indications Acute and chronic cough of any etiology, pertussis. Also, cough observed in the pre- and post-operative periods, during surgical interventions, and bronchoscopy. Central Action: Action on the cough center. Peripheral Action: Reduction of receptor sensitivity with an antispasmodic effect. Anti-inflammatory effect. Bronchodilatory effect. It suppresses cough of central origin, reducing both dry and productive cough. It reduces bronchospasm, simultaneously easing breathing and facilitating sputum evacuation. It improves lung function and helps normalize blood gas composition. Dosage and Administration • 3 to 6 years old – 1 tsp 3 times a day. • 6 to 12 years old – 2 tsp 3 times a day. • Over 12 years old – 3 tsp 3 times a day. 1 measuring spoon = 5 ml.
