What is it?

International Nonproprietary Name (Active Substance): zinc sulfate Clinical-pharmacological group: Vitamins, multivitamins, trace elements → Mineral substances → Trace elements 1. What is Zinkit 10 effervescent tablets and what is it used for? Zinkit is a zinc-containing preparation Area of use: Clinically proven zinc deficiency when sufficient amounts cannot be obtained from food. 2. What should you consider before taking Zinkit 10 effervescent tablets? Zinkit 10 effervescent tablets must not be taken: - if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to zinc sulfate or to any of the other excipients of Zinkit listed in point 6. Special precautions with Zinkit 10 effervescent tablets: No special precautions are necessary. Taking Zinkit 10 effervescent tablets with other medicines: Tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. Chelating agents such as D-penicillamine, dimercaptopropanesulfonic acid (DMPS), ethanedicarboxylic acid (DMSA) or ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) inhibit zinc absorption or increase its excretion. Simultaneous administration of zinc and phosphate, zinc, copper and calcium salts inhibits zinc absorption. Zinc inhibits copper absorption. High doses of zinc inhibit iron absorption and retention. Zinc inhibits the absorption of tetracyclines, ofloxacin and other quinolones (e.g., norfloxacin, ciprofloxacin). Therefore, an interval of at least 3 hours should be observed between the administration of zinc and the aforementioned medications. What other medicines does Zinkit 10 effervescent tablets affect? Zinc inhibits copper absorption. Taking Zinkit 10 effervescent tablets with drinks and food: Foods with a high phytate content (cereals, legumes, nuts) inhibit zinc absorption. There is suspicion that coffee inhibits zinc absorption. Pregnancy and lactation: During lactation or pregnancy, or if you are planning or suspect pregnancy, consult your doctor or pharmacist. The preparation can be taken by pregnant women only if zinc deficiency is confirmed. Concentration and driving: There is no information on whether the preparation affects concentration and the ability to drive or operate machinery. This preparation contains sorbitol and sodium. Each effervescent tablet contains 419 mg of sorbitol, which corresponds to a daily dose of 419-838 mg of sorbitol. Sorbitol is a source of fructose. Consult your doctor before taking the preparation if you (or your child) have known sugar intolerance or hereditary fructose intolerance - a rare congenital disease in which the patient cannot digest fructose. Each effervescent tablet contains 463 mg of sodium. The maximum recommended dose is 926 mg of sodium (the main component of salt). This corresponds to 47% of the daily dose of sodium from food for adults. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you take 1 or more effervescent tablets daily for a long period of time. Especially if you are on a salt-free diet. 3. How to take Zinkit 10 effervescent tablets: Take Zinkit 10 effervescent tablets as instructed in the leaflet or as prescribed by your doctor. If you have any further questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Recommended dose is: Dissolve 1 effervescent tablet in water and take 1-2 times a day (corresponding to 10-20 mg of zinc). Method of administration: The preparation is taken on an empty stomach, dissolved in water some time before meals.
