What is it?
International Nonproprietary Name - Zinc sulfate For oral use only. Active ingredient: Each 5 ml syrup (one dose) contains 15 mg of zinc as zinc sulfate heptahydrate. Excipients: Sucrose, methylparaben, glycerin, orange oil, sunset yellow (E110) and deionized water What is Zinko and what is it used for Zinko is a zinc-containing syrup. It is presented in 100 ml amber bottles with a 5 ml measuring spoon and a 5 ml pipette. It is used for the treatment or prevention of zinc deficiency and for the treatment of diarrhea. In adults, Zinko can be taken before, after, or during meals, using the spoon or pipette. Route and method of administration: Zinko is for oral use only. The syrup is taken using the measuring spoon or pipette. Different age groups: Use in children: Used in children as indicated above. Use in the elderly: The safety and efficacy of Zinko in the elderly have not been studied. Possible side effects Like all medicines, Zinko may cause side effects in some patients who are sensitive to the ingredients. Side effects are listed by category: Very common: may affect at least 1 in 10 patients Common: may affect less than 1 in 10 but more than 1 in 100 patients Uncommon: may affect less than 1 in 100 but more than 1 in 1000 patients Rare: may affect less than 1 in 1000 but more than 1 in 10000 patients Very rare: may affect less than 1 in 10000 patients (including isolated cases) Not known: cannot be estimated from available data
