What is it?
Clindamycin 100 mg Pessary Clindamycin 100 mg Pessary is a semi-solid pessary, which is a vaginal suppository. When inserted into the vagina, it releases a medicine called clindamycin phosphate. It belongs to a group of medicines called "antibiotics". Clindamycin 100 mg Pessary is used to treat a bacterial infection of the vagina called bacterial vaginosis. How to use: Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Do not use this product if the strips containing the pessaries are torn, opened, or incompletely sealed. Care must be taken not to heat the pessary, as heat can soften and deform it. The recommended dose of this medicine is one pessary to be inserted into the vagina every night before going to bed, for three consecutive nights. After insertion, the pessary will melt and disappear. Insertion: • Remove the pessary from the strip. • Lie on your back with your knees bent towards your chest. • Insert the pessary into the vagina with the tip of your third (middle) finger as far as is comfortable. Always wash your hands before and after inserting the pessaries. If you use more Clindamycin 100 mg Pessary than you should, you must inform your doctor. Do not use more pessaries until your doctor tells you to. If you forget to use Clindamycin 100 mg Pessary If the forgotten pessary is a few hours late, use it immediately. If it is time for your next pessary, skip the forgotten one. Take the next pessary at the usual time. Continue to use the pessaries at the usual time. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. If you stop using Clindamycin 100 mg Pessaries, you may sometimes feel better after one or two days of treatment. Even if you feel better, do not stop using the pessaries until you have completed the full course of treatment. If you swallow Clindamycin 100 mg Pessary If the pessary is eaten or swallowed, consult your doctor. The pessaries are unlikely to cause any harm, but your doctor will be able to advise you on what to do. If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Storage: Keep this medicine out of the reach of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and the strip after EXP. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. Store below 30C. Do not throw away medicines down the drain or into household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicines you no longer use. These measures will help protect the environment.
