What is it?
International Nonproprietary Name (Active Substance): silver sulfadiazine Clinical-Pharmacological Group: Antibacterial agents → Sulfanilamide group preparations. Indications for Use The preparation is mainly intended for: • Treatment and prevention of burn infections; • Treatment and prevention of bedsores, varicose ulcers, bruises, minor cuts and wounds, abrasions, and other clean wounds, as well as during skin grafting. Contraindications Hypersensitivity to the active substance or any other ingredient of the preparation; Dosage and Administration Always use Dermazin strictly in accordance with the doctor's recommendations. The preparation is intended for external use. The appropriate treatment regimen is prescribed immediately after assessing the severity of burn injuries. Before applying to the skin, the burn surface needs to be cleaned and necrotic tissues removed. Apply Dermazin cream in a layer 2 – 4 mm thick to the burned skin surface. It is best to apply the cream to a sterile gauze, which is then placed on the burned skin surface. Alternatively, the cream can be applied to the burned area of the skin with a sterile gloved hand or a sterile spatula. The cream is usually applied to the wound surface once a day; for more severe burns, the cream may be applied repeatedly. Nevertheless, the cream should be reapplied at least once every 24 hours. Before each reapplication of the cream, the burn wound should be cleaned using water and antiseptic agents, and all exudate and previously applied cream residue should be removed. Residue that remains after applying a large amount of Dermazin and resembles pus in color, although it is aseptic at this time. Then the wound should be covered with a dressing, but this is not necessary. The cream does not cause pain when applied to the wound surface. It does not stain clothing or bed linen.
