Devitini D3 400 IU is a dietary supplement for newborns and children, with 1 dose containing 10 mcg (400 IU) of Vitamin D3. Vitamin D3 aids in the absorption of calcium and phosphorus from the digestive tract, ensuring normal development of bones and teeth. It plays an important role in strengthening the immune system and normal muscle function. Vitamin D3 deficiency in children leads to insufficient mineralization of the skeleton, causing rickets (softening of bones), while in adults it causes demineralization of bones and osteomalacia. Prolonged deficiency of Vitamin D3 may lead to osteoporosis. Taking recommended doses of Vitamin D3 prevents the development of rickets and bone demineralization. According to European, American, and national recommendations, Vitamin D3 is prescribed for prophylaxis at 400 IU daily from the first day of life for one year, as well as for children over one year old, especially during the winter period. Additional intake of Vitamin D3 is particularly necessary for breastfed infants, as breast milk does not contain sufficient amounts of this vitamin. Also, Vitamin D3 is prescribed for prophylaxis in formula-fed infants.
