- ENALAPRIL NORMON 10 mg - The active substance is enalapril maleate. Each tablet contains 10 mg of enalapril maleate. - Other excipients are: lactose monohydrate, pregelatinized corn starch, sodium bicarbonate, red iron oxide (E172), magnesium stearate. Uses: ENALAPRIL NORMON contains the active substance enalapril maleate. It belongs to the group of so-called ACE inhibitors (angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors). Enalapril is used: • To treat high blood pressure (hypertension); • To treat heart failure (weakened heart function). The drug reduces the need for hospitalization and helps prolong patients' lives; • To prevent signs of heart failure. Signs include shortness of breath, fatigue after mild physical exertion, such as walking, or swelling of the ankles and feet. Dosage: The medication should always be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor or pharmacist. If the patient is unsure, they should consult a doctor or pharmacist. • It is very important to continue taking the medication as prescribed by your doctor; • Do not take more tablets than prescribed; • The tablet can be divided into equal doses. High blood pressure: • The recommended starting dose is 5 - 20 mg once daily. • Some patients may require a lower starting dose. • The recommended maintenance dose is 20 mg once daily. • The maximum maintenance dose is 40 mg once daily. Heart failure: • The recommended starting dose is 2.5 mg once daily. • The doctor will gradually increase the dose until the optimal dose for the patient is reached. • The recommended maintenance dose is 20 mg, taken in one or two doses. • The maximum maintenance dose is 40 mg per day, divided into two doses. Patients with kidney problems The dose of the medication varies depending on kidney function: • Moderate kidney problems: 5 mg - 10 mg per day; • Severe kidney problems: 2.5 mg per day; • Patients on dialysis: 2.5 mg per day. When not on dialysis, the dose may be adjusted depending on how low the blood pressure is. Elderly patients: The dose will be determined by the doctor based on kidney function. Use in children Experience with enalapril in children with high blood pressure is limited. If a child can swallow the tablet, the dose should be calculated based on the child's weight and blood pressure. Usual starting doses are: • 20 kg to 50 kg: 2.5 mg per day; • Above 50 kg: 5 mg per day. The dose may be adjusted according to the child's needs: • A maximum daily dose of 20 mg per day may be used in children weighing 20 kg to 50 kg. • A maximum daily dose of 40 mg per day may be used in children weighing over 50 kg. The medication is not recommended for newborns (first few weeks after birth) and children with kidney problems. Storage: Do not use the medication after the expiry date indicated on the carton and blister, the expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month. Store below 30C. Store in the original packaging to protect from moisture.
