What is it?
Composition: The active substances are adapalene and benzoyl peroxide. 1g of gel contains 1mg (0.1%) adapalene and 25mg (2.5%) benzoyl peroxide. Excipients are: sodium docusate, disodium edetate, glycerin, poloxamer, propylene glycol (E1520), Simugel 600 PHA (acrylamide and sodium acryloyldimethyltaurate copolymer, isohexadecane, polysorbate 80, sorbitan oleate) and purified water. Indication: Epiduo is used for the treatment of acne. The gel contains two active substances, adapalene and benzoyl peroxide, which act simultaneously through different mechanisms: adapalene belongs to the group of retinoids and specifically acts on the causes of acne on the skin. The second active substance, benzoyl peroxide, acts as an antimicrobial agent, softening and exfoliating the outer layer of the skin. Contraindication: Do not use: if the patient is allergic to the active substances or any of the other ingredients in the preparation. Warnings and precautions: Do not use on scratches, grazes, sunburn or eczema; avoid contact with eyes, mouth or nostrils and other sensitive areas of the body. In such cases, rinse with plenty of warm water. The patient should avoid direct sunlight and UV lamps. Do not use on hair or colored fabrics, as they may be discolored. Wash hands thoroughly after using the preparation. Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using Epiduo. Other medicines and Epiduo: Do not use other anti-acne products (containing benzoyl peroxide and/or retinoids) together with Epiduo. Do not use Epiduo with cosmetics that irritate, dry or exfoliate the skin. Pregnancy and lactation: Epiduo should not be used during pregnancy. If pregnancy occurs during treatment with Epiduo, treatment should be discontinued and the doctor should be informed for further monitoring. Epiduo can be used during lactation. To avoid exposure to the infant, Epiduo should not be applied to the breast. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using the preparation. Epiduo contains propylene glycol (E1520), a substance that can irritate the skin. Dosage and administration: Always use the preparation as advised by your doctor. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Epiduo is intended for adults and adolescents from 9 years of age. Apply a thin layer of gel to the affected skin once a day before bedtime, avoiding contact with eyes, lips and nostrils. The skin should be clean and dry. Wash your hands after using Epiduo. Your doctor will advise on the duration of Epiduo use. If you feel that Epiduo is too weak or too strong, consult your doctor or pharmacist. In case of severe irritation, consult your doctor. You may be advised to use a moisturizer, reduce the frequency of gel application, or temporarily or completely stop treatment. Overdose: Using more Epiduo than necessary does not increase its anti-acne effect, but can cause skin irritation and redness. Consult a doctor or hospital: in case of Epiduo overdose, if a child accidentally takes the preparation, if the preparation is accidentally swallowed. The doctor will advise on the necessary measures. Storage: Store out of reach and sight of children. Do not use the preparation after the expiry date indicated on the packaging. The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month. Do not use the tube or pump after 6 months from first opening. Store at no more than 25C.
