What is it?
Vildagliptin/Metformin Hydrochloride Vildagliptin/Metformin NORMON's active substances are vildagliptin and metformin, which belong to the group of "oral antidiabetic agents". Vildagliptin/Metformin is used to treat adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This type of diabetes is also called non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. Vildagliptin/Metformin is used when diabetes cannot be controlled by diet and exercise alone and/or with other medications used to treat diabetes (insulin or sulfonylurea). Type 2 diabetes develops when the body cannot produce enough insulin and the insulin produced by the body does not work as it should. It can also develop when the body produces too much glucagon. Insulin and glucagon are both produced in the pancreas. Insulin helps to lower blood sugar levels, especially after meals. Glucagon helps the liver to produce sugar, which leads to increased blood sugar levels. How Vildagliptin/Metformin NORMON works Both active substances, vildagliptin and metformin, help to control blood sugar levels. Vildagliptin works by causing the pancreas to produce more insulin and less glucagon. Metformin helps the body to use insulin better. This medication lowers blood sugar levels, which helps to prevent diabetes complications. Children and adolescents The use of Vildagliptin/Metformin in children and adolescents under 18 years of age is not recommended.
