What is it?
International Nonproprietary Name - Benzalkonium chloride Composition: 1 g of vaginal cream contains: Benzalkonium chloride................12 mg. Aromatized excipient sufficient for 72g of vaginal cream. Pharmacotherapeutic group: Local contraceptive agent. Indications: Local contraception for women of reproductive age and generally in the following cases: temporary or absolute contraindications to oral contraceptives or intrauterine devices; after childbirth and during lactation; pre-menopausal period; for episodic sexual intercourse; during constant use of oral contraceptives when a tablet is taken late or missed. Contraindications: Pharmatex has good tolerability. It is not absorbed into the blood or breast milk, does not affect the normal vaginal microflora or hormonal cycle. Increased sensitivity to any component of the preparation is rarely observed. Dosage and method of administration: Remove the cap from the tube, place the applicator-doser on its head and fill it to the indicated mark, ensuring no air bubbles form. While lying on your back, the cream is inserted deep into the vagina through the applicator-doser before sexual intercourse (see diagram). The action of the preparation begins immediately upon insertion and lasts for 10 hours. In case of repeated sexual intercourse, the preparation should be used again. Side effects: The risk of developing side effects is minimal when using the recommended dose. Pregnancy and lactation: Due to low systemic absorption, the preparation is not absorbed into the blood or breast milk, therefore it can be used during pregnancy and lactation. The preparation does not negatively affect the course of pregnancy. No cases of adverse teratogenic and embryotoxic effects on fetal development have been observed in clinical and experimental use of Pharmatex.
