International Nonproprietary Name - Benzalkonium chloride Composition: 1 vaginal suppository contains: Benzalkonium chloride…...18.9 mg. Excipient sufficient for 1 vaginal suppository. Pharmacotherapeutic group: Local contraceptive. Indications: Local contraception for women of reproductive age and generally in the following cases: temporary or absolute contraindications to oral contraceptives or intrauterine devices; after childbirth and during lactation; pre-menopausal period; for episodic sexual intercourse; during continuous use of oral contraceptives when a tablet is taken late or missed. Contraindications: Pharmatex has good tolerability. It does not pass into the blood and breast milk, does not affect the normal vaginal microflora and hormonal cycle. Hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation is rarely observed. Dosage and method of administration: While lying on your back, insert the suppository deep into the vagina no later than 5 minutes before sexual intercourse. The preparation will protect you for 4 hours after insertion. For repeated sexual intercourse, the preparation should be used again. Side effects: The risk of side effects is minimal when using the recommended dose. Pregnancy and lactation: Due to low systemic absorption, the preparation does not pass into the blood and breast milk, therefore it can be used during pregnancy and lactation. The preparation does not adversely affect the course of pregnancy. No cases of undesirable teratogenic and embryotoxic effects on fetal development have been identified in clinical and experimental use of Pharmatex.
