Fersal Clinical-Pharmacological Group: Hematology ? Anti-anemic Preparations ? Iron Preparations Country: Turkey Dispensing Form: Group III Over-the-counter Composition: Ferrous Gluconate - 360 mg, containing 45 mg of elemental iron. Form: Tablet N30 Fersal: Dietary Supplement Why Fersal Iron? • Fersal's ferrous gluconate form causes less gastrointestinal irritation compared to inorganic salts • High bioavailability • Does not disrupt the proteolytic activity of the digestive system • Does not neutralize stomach pH • Fersal iron's rapid absorption and effectiveness ensure normal pregnancy progression • Has less pronounced side effects • Pure iron formula • Safe for long-term use Pharmacological Action: Unlike inorganic salts, gluconate is better absorbed by the body. It contains divalent iron (Fe2+). Enterocytes have the ability to bind (Fe2+) ions, and their absorption becomes more active the more pronounced the iron deficiency in the body. Ferrous gluconate is characterized by a low ionization constant (the lower the ionization constant, the higher its absorption capacity). It does not precipitate proteins, does not disrupt the proteolytic activity of the digestive system, and does not cause vomiting, stomach spasms, constipation, or diarrhea in most patients. The decomposition (dissociation) product of ferrous gluconate is gluconic acid, which is a weak acid by nature and has little effect on pH. Ferrous gluconate replenishes iron (Fe) deficiency in the body and is part of hemoglobin (Hb). Indications: • Treatment and prevention of iron deficiency anemia. • Anemias caused by various factors (surgical interventions, ionizing radiation, prolonged hemodialysis, etc.); • Pregnancy and lactation; (in the II and III trimesters of pregnancy), postpartum and during lactation.
