Formoterol belongs to a group of medicines called bronchodilators, which relax the muscles of the airways in the lungs and cause them to widen. Fluticasone belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids, and because it has an anti-inflammatory effect, it relieves breathing problems by reducing swelling and sensitivity in the walls of the airways in the lungs. Fixhaler is available in a package containing 60 inhalation capsules, containing 12 mcg of formoterol fumarate and 500 mcg of fluticasone propionate, and includes 1 single-use inhalation device (the capsule is pierced inside the device and the powder in the capsule is inhaled into the lungs). Fixhaler is used in the following situations: For the correction and control of asthma symptoms. It is intended for step-up therapy of asthma from step 3. How is Fixhaler used? Instructions for correct use and dosage/frequency of administration: When treating asthma: Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age: 1 inhalation twice daily (inhalation into the lungs) Fixhaler 12 mcg / 500 mcg inhaled powder, hard capsule Route and method of administration Fixhaler is administered by inhalation only. Inhale the powdered medicine through your mouth into your lungs (inhalation: breathing in medicine through your mouth). If Fixhaler is prescribed for a child under 18 years of age, administration should be supervised by an adult who can understand how to use Fixhaler. It is important to use Fixhaler regularly to get the full benefit. Do not stop treatment even if you feel better. Do not change the dose of the medicine without consulting your doctor.
