What is it?
Phytolax Composition: Active substance: Phytolax dry extract _ 0.25g; (based on senna leaves, cascara sagrada bark, and licorice root). Excipients: magnesium carbonate, calcium stearate, starch, polyvinylpyrrolidone, sucrose, aerosil, titanium dioxide, green pigment. Phytolax dry extract contains anthraglycosides: emodin, chrysophanic acid, glucofrangulin, frangulin, and others, as well as the saponin glycyrrhizin. Pharmacological action: Hydrolysis of anthraglycosides and saponins is carried out under the action of intestinal enzymes and bacteria. The resulting products enhance the peristalsis of the large intestine and do not irritate the gastrointestinal mucosa. Due to the slow hydrolysis process, the laxative effect develops only in the large intestine, 8-10 hours after administration of the preparation; the content of licorice saponins in the preparation additionally provides it with anti-inflammatory, gastrointestinal mucosal protective, and antispasmodic action. Indications: Used in complex therapy as an adjunct. - Spastic colitis - Atonic constipation - Hemorrhoids (for regulating bowel movements) - Anal fissures The preparation is recommended for chronic constipation, which more often develops in people with a sedentary lifestyle. Dosage and administration: 1 or 2 tablets in the evening before bedtime. Prolonged use of the preparation leads to habituation, therefore, an increase in dose or periodic replacement of the laxative preparation becomes necessary. Side effects: With prolonged use of the preparation in large doses, the following may develop: - Increased hyperemia of pelvic organs - Hypokalemia, demineralization (therefore, it is advisable to take a potassium-containing preparation or potassium-rich food in parallel to restore balance) - May cause miscarriage in pregnant women. Special instructions: The preparation should be started with 1 tablet per day, increasing the dose to 2 tablets per day is advisable only if the effect is insufficient. If side effects are observed during the use of the preparation, it is advisable to consult a doctor for symptomatic treatment! Overdose: Overdose may cause abdominal discomfort, tenesmus, nausea, diarrhea. Treatment is symptomatic. Contraindications: - Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation - Intestinal obstruction - Pregnancy - Menstruation Pregnancy and lactation: The use of the preparation is not recommended during pregnancy and lactation. Storage conditions: Store at a temperature of 15-25°C, in a dry, protected from light, and inaccessible to children place. It is forbidden to use the preparation after the expiry date or if defects are found during visual inspection.
