What is it?

FLOCORT DEXAMETHASONE PHOSPHATE 1MG-ML + OFLOXACIN 3MG-ML EYE DROPS, SOLUTION Before using the preparation, it is necessary to read the instructions carefully, as it contains important information for patients. The instructions should be kept, as it may be necessary to re-read them. If you have any further questions, consult your doctor or pharmacist. This preparation is prescribed to you. Do not give it to others, even if their symptoms are similar. Composition: The active substances are dexamethasone phosphate and ofloxacin. Each ml of solution contains 1mg of dexamethasone phosphate (in the form of dexamethasone sodium phosphate) and 3mg of ofloxacin. Excipients: sodium dihydrogen phosphate monohydrate, disodium hydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate, sodium chloride, benzalkonium chloride (50% solution) and water for injection. May contain hydrochloric acid or sodium hydroxide for pH adjustment. Indications: FLOCORT is indicated before and after eye surgery when infection and inflammation may be present simultaneously, or for the treatment of infections of the outer surface of the eye caused by ofloxacin-sensitive microorganisms, meaning bacterial infections with an acute inflammatory reaction. FLOCORT is indicated for adults (including the elderly). Contraindications: FLOCORT must not be used: if you are allergic to dexamethasone phosphate or ofloxacin or other quinolones or any of the other ingredients of this medicine; if you have an acute purulent bacterial infection, fungal infection, viral infection (herpes virus, varicella zoster virus) or embolic infection; if you have corneal lesions (perforation, ulceration or lesions associated with incomplete scar formation); if you have drug-induced ocular hypertension. Warnings and Precautions: Before using FLOCORT, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Inform your doctor if swelling and weight gain around your body and in your face develop, as these signs are usually the first manifestations of Cushing's syndrome. Adrenal suppression may occur after stopping long-term or intensive treatment with FLOCORT. Consult your doctor before stopping treatment on your own. These risks are particularly important for children and patients taking ritonavir or cobicistat. Long-term use of FLOCORT may lead to increased intraocular pressure, therefore, more frequent monitoring of intraocular pressure is necessary. Opportunistic infections, including fungal infections, may develop, in which case treatment should be discontinued and appropriate therapy initiated. The use of topical corticosteroids may reduce inflammatory manifestations and mask or enhance purulent infections (with pus). In patients with corneal ulcers, more frequent eye monitoring is recommended. FLOCORT should only be used when inflammation is the main cause of delayed wound healing. In patients with acute allergic conjunctivitis, when this condition does not respond to standard treatment, FLOCORT may be used only for a short period. Avoid using contact lenses during treatment with FLOCORT. If you have diabetes, inform your ophthalmologist. If you have diagnosed eye redness, do not use FLOCORT. FLOCORT is used with caution in patients sensitive to other antibacterial agents containing quinolones.
