What is it?
International Nonproprietary Name - Dexamethasonum+Ciprofloxacinum Composition: Active ingredients: Ciprofloxacin - 3.5 g/L, Dexamethasone 1 g/L; Excipients: Sodium chloride, Boric acid, Sodium acetate, Polysorbate 80, Disodium edetate; Ethanol; Preservative - Benzalkonium chloride 0.01%. Description: White or almost white suspension Pharmacotherapeutic group: Antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory agent. Pharmacological properties: Combined preparation containing a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent - Ciprofloxacin and a glucocorticoid - Dexamethasone. It has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, and desensitizing effects. Indications: Eye and ear infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to Ciprofloxacin. Ophthalmology: Corneal ulcer of the eye caused by the following microorganisms: Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Serratia marcescens, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus (Viridans group). Conjunctivitis caused by: Haemophilus influenzae, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae. Conjunctivitis, keratitis, keratoconjunctivitis without epithelial damage, iritis, iridocyclitis, blepharoconjunctivitis, blepharitis, episcleritis, scleritis, inflammatory process after eye trauma and surgical interventions. Otorhinolaryngology: Middle ear infections: otitis; otorrhea after tympanostomy tube placement. Dosage: Ophthalmology: 1-2 drops instilled every 4 hours, in acute infections 2 drops every 1 hour. After improvement, the dose and frequency of instillation are reduced. Otorhinolaryngology: 4-5 drops 3 times a day. Contraindications: Viral keratitis, purulent infections of the conjunctiva and eyelids caused by microorganisms resistant to Ciprofloxacin, tuberculous lesions of the eye, acute lichen, viral and fungal diseases of the eye and ear, hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation. During pregnancy and lactation, the preparation can be used only when the expected therapeutic effect outweighs the potential risk to the fetus. Side effects: Allergic reactions: risk of perforation during corneal thinning. Rarely: eyelid swelling, photophobia, tearing. Very rarely, with prolonged treatment, an increase in intraocular pressure, cataract formation may occur. Overdose: In case of overdose, it is necessary to wash the eyes with warm water. Precautions: Not for injection. Remove contact lenses before use. When using other medications, the interval between administrations should be at least 5 minutes. Special instructions: The preparation is used only as eye and ear drops. Prolonged use of the preparation for a significantly longer period than recommended may lead to the development of secondary infections caused by fungi or viruses. During treatment, it is necessary to monitor intraocular pressure and the condition of the cornea. To prevent the spread of infection, it is necessary not to use more than one vial for the treatment of eye infection and otitis.
